Long story short, they are raising my rated DL speeds from 9Mbits to 12Mbits. No mention is made of the UL speeds. They are also going to increase my bill by 5 dollars. I can live with that increase, but I do want to see increases in actual speed as well as rated speed. Cox can claim 20Mbit, but unless I can test my connection at that speed, then its pretty moot.

New speed is supposed to take effect in Oct.

i would threaten to cancel.

9mbit to 12mbit is barely any difference.

I rather have a huge increase in upload.

Why would I threaten to cancel? 5 dollars isn't a whole lot. If I wanted to, I could drop down to their standard cable service, which was 6Mbit down, don't remember the UL on it, 512Kbit up, I think. The Premium was 9Mbit down, 1Mbit up. I'll check the Cox website in October, see if the UL for the premium service changed.

But I'm not going to threaten to cancel over them actually trying to make the service a little faster. Thats retarded. :p

it is just that they hope you'll never manage to use 12mbps to full extent; and that they'll get $5 always.

before I moved, I had Adelphia's high speed internet connection... one day I discovered one of those sites that tells you how fast your connection is and recommends ways to tweak your settings (as well as provided some little applications to do the same) - I went from 1/2 of the advertised speeds to just slightly above the advertised speeds.
