i'm brand new to the laptop scene, never owned one. my friend sold me his sony 900mhz laptop, i'm pretty excited about it... there's few limits to a portable computer. the thing has more cpu bandwidth than my home pc, dammit. i was wondering if anyone can describe to me how to go about setting up a wireless home network, right now i have a cable modem hooked up to a winxp box. best bang for your buck, some kinda SOHO kit would be great. also, how about a USB GPS unit and a car lighter adapter for cruising in the car? and any other geek tools you think are necessary for a laptop. any websites/links that specialize in it? thanks for your input.

For wireless you need a PCMCIA device. The GPS can attached to USB or serial - depending on the unit. A auto-air adapter from Targus will take care of all your mobile adventures on land and in the air. At sea you can use your regular A/C/ adapter. :)
