Got a job offer!

Lifer
I got a job offer for a NOC position, installing Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD boxes for a hosting provider, and doing some support. I might also do some vlan and router configuration. They tested me and then offered me a job on the spot. I have a 90 day contract with their hiring firm, and then they have the option to bring me on full time. Problem is, they don't pay much during the first 90 days and I am waiting for an answer on what I will be making when I go perm. I am under the impression it will be a more reasonable salary. They want me to start ASAP (like yesterday hehehe).

I am graduating in August. I had 2 interviews last week with other firms, but I won't get any feedback from them until next week, maybe Friday. One of the jobs starts in mid-september, and I think the other one starts in early August. Neither firm will give me salary info until the second round of interviews, assuming I get called back (should be good chance on both I have been told, but no guarantees).

I cannot decide if I should I take the NOC job, or hold off and wait to here from the other two positions? Problem is that if I wait too long, they may give the NOC job to someone else because they are getting slammed and need help immediately. Then I have possibly 2 choices, or go back into interviewing mode.

The other option is to start the NOC job. Then if the other jobs had a better offer, I could leave. But I don't feel comfortable working at a place and quitting in 1-3 months, even if it is a 90 day contract only.

Hmm decisions decisions. Any advice?

90 days = 3 months...

If you get a better offer in the meantime after taking the NOC job I would take it. Broaden that comfort zone of yours.

I'm with this guy.

If they are not willing to commit to offering you a permanent position then you should not feel obligated to make any kind of permanent committment to them.

Since the other jobs don't start right away, I would take the contract job, then if you get offered one of the other jobs and it's better, take it and leave the contract job at the end of the 90 days.

I understand you not wanting to take a job and leave it a couple months later. But in this case, since they are only offering you contract to start, I dont' think it would be a bad thing to decline a permanent offer at the end of the contract.
