Any ideas why? Does humidity help keep the temp more stable? It was 111 yesterday and my room would normaly be at least 88, but it was only 82 yesterday.

Liquids can contain more warmth (energy) than air since it has a higher density.

It also takes longer for a liquid to release its energy, so yes, a higher humidity means a more stable temperature.

dehumidifiers are a two pronged sword.

On one hand, they do lower humidity in the room, on the other hand, they usually also increase temperature, they can put out a good deal of heat. I don't jnow why your room gets cooler. Maybe you have some kind of new dehumidifier, mine is over 20 years old.

I just notice when I have the humidifier going and the AC kicks on and off, the temps are more stable then without it on. So in essence my rooms avg temp is lower. Normal it shoots right up when the AC goes off.

ohh DUH, you said HUMIDIFIER, I thought you said DEHUMIDIFIER! where I live right now, anyone who uses a humidifier in this weather is CRAZY. a dehumidifier is what most people use. but down in the southwest I suppose its different.
