Hello everyone,
I have been doing alot of research and I am totaly confused at this point, I guess the kid in the candy store with a sweet tooth and only a dollar scenario is very applicable.

The basics are I want an 3800 x2 toledo
I am thinking either
motherboard
1.dfi ultra n4,
2. msi neo4 platinum

R.A.M.
1. 2x512 Corsair 3200c2
2. 2x512 PNY turbo
3. 2x512 Crucial Ballistic

VIDEO CARD
1. Geforce 6800 gt 256mb pci express
2. Radeon x800 xl 256mb pci express

HARD DRIVE
1. Deskstar 7K250 Serial ATA 250GB SATA 8MB Buffer
2. Maxtor 200GB 16 Buffer EIDE Hard Drive

PSU/TOWER

This is where it gets harry, I have a total of a grand and believe me, my wife is not hearing a dime over it ( well maybe $20.00 😉)
Anyway I have crawled the net and I will still be crawling when you guys decide to help a poor soul out.
I know the importance of an adequate psu... hence my problems in keeping a system under $1,000
Any and all help will be appreciated, ofcourse links are nice but i have probably been to every shop known to man, but maybe not geeks😕

First, I'd pick 2, 2, 1, none of the above (I'd get a HDD that supported NCQ). Not sure what else you need, or how much the above parts subtotal to, but the Antec Sonata is a very nice case and the PSU it comes with is adequate for that setup. You can get one for about $100. What other aprts do you need/want?

Well, its kinda hard to give PSU/case suggestions without looking up the prices on all the other components, but for a good case on a budget i would say get a Cooler Master Centurion and either this or this. PSU's are a pretty controversial topic, so i am sure you will get lots of good suggestions.

Okay first thanks for the speedy reply,
I am grateful for the NCQ info, I learn something new everyday
So the
1. Serial ATA 200GB MAXTOR 200GB SERIAL ATA
2. SEAGATE - EIDE 160GB SATA 7200 3.5LP NCQ BARRACUDA 8MB CACHE
both are $90.00
Also your saying a 380watt power supply would be enough?
The reason I question that is because my rig now 3200xp nf7sv2 and so forth needed atleast 400w so i went with an enermax 430watt
on that note would a soprano work, take into consideration i hope to do some overclocking

go with dfi ultra-d n4, x800xl, crucial ballistix, and the maxtor hdd. My advice is shop around and buy this stuff used or somthin off ebay or anandtech. I picked up my dfi ultra-d brand new for 95$ with shipping maybe you will have some luck and find a few deals as good as that. Dont rush your build and you will save money. Good luck

I'd go with:

Asus A8N-E
Corsair or Kingston value PC3200 2x512MB
WD 250GB SATAII
X800XL
Antec SonataII - 450W PS

I know some of the things aren't on your list, but I suggest considering at least. I have experience with each and every one of these parts minues the SonataII (just regular sonata) but the new Sonata has the 450W PS which is nice. They are all great items.

Of your new drive choices, I'd gow with the maxtor SATA.

It depends, you really can't go on wattage alone. That 380W Antec comes specced at 24A@+12V (although a lot of sites still advertise it as 18A, they replaced it with the bigger model over a year ago), which is sufficient for some pretty robust systems and which will support overclocking of your setup just fine.

The Soprano PSU should also be okay, although you might want to look up the specs on it. Personally, I've never trusted ThermalTake, though recently it seems like their quality has been improving.

The 380W Antec is sufficient enough. I have a TT 480 Silent Purepower running a 6800GT @ Ultra speeds, 3000+ 2.5ghz @ 1.55v, and a hard drive. My power supply only has 18A @12V

motherboard
1.dfi ultra n4 (and I'm an MSI guy! DFI is jut owning now though)

R.A.M.
3. 2x512 Crucial Ballistix (If you're not overclocking just check to hot deals forum and get kingston hyperx)

VIDEO CARD
1. Geforce 6800 gt 256mb pci express

HARD DRIVE
Yuck. Get the seagate 7200.9 series.

PSU/TOWER
You're on your own for this one, somewhere in my posts from about a month ago I had found an amazing case deal for like ~$25.
