Update:Just bought a used one. The case has a minor chip in it but I only gave $45 and a Philips low end MP3/CD player. Anyway it seems to be working good but should the laser be noticeable loud? I can hear it plain as day and me about 8ft from it.

Only had mine since November but I haven't had any problems with it.

I have read that a lot of those 3rd party memory cards are sh!t though...

I had a problem with one of my Gamecubes, but Nintendo was great about it. Airborne came and picked it up, and it was back within a week. I did not have to pay anything. For the most part though, the Gamecubes are great.

if you somehow manage to wear one out, it will probably take years so it wouldn't cost much to replace, no problems with mine, had it for a year.

Mine has been flawless, and I'm very glad I bought it. I really enjoy the Zelda games (I got the bonus disk), Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and several other games I've purchased, most very cheaply. :)

Ok I'm getting one. What are some good RPG/Action(single player) games for it? I was thinking Zelda:Windwaker,Metroid and Mario Sunshine. Any others?

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is a fun RP Diablo-style game. I've only played the Xbox version, though.

Same here. Haven't had any problems as of yet. Played through Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime as well as several other games with no difficulty, hardware wise.

I once stretched the controller cable and pulled my GameCube off the shelf it was sitting on. It fell about two feet to the ground. After I finished cursing and checked to see that nothing appeared to have broken off, I plugged the controller cable back in and shut the lid, and my game (Rogue Leader?) resumed from where it had been interrupted.

And wasn't available on launch day. :p

Although I still keep the default controllers around with some extension cords, because the rumble feature is still very useful, particularly in adventure games.

We've had our GC for a year now (bought it used) with no problems at all.

Also be sure to check out Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Squadron, and Resident Evil Zero.

Played through Luigis Mansion at a friends house. I liked it. I'll check the other 2 out as well. Any other good ones?

Pikmin and Eternal Darkness are brilliant puzzle games.

If you enjoyed Goldeneye or Perfect Dark on N64, you might want to get Timesplitters 2.

Skies of Arcadia Legends is a brilliantly epic RPG. The graphics are dated (it's a mostly straight Dreamcast port) and the random encounters can be a bit too frequent, but the storyline is one of my favorites.

Got mine a few months ago, and it's been flawless...except for Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, but that's a port so it doesn't count. :)

Nintendo built this thing with young kids in mind. It's small, doesn't generate much heat, and even your grandmother could figure out where to plug in all the wires.

As an example of fine engineering, the mini-CD (or DVD or whatever) clicks into place when you put one in. Here's the genius part: If you open the lid while the disk is still spinning, you have to put your finger on the center spindle to unlock the disk. When you push down to unlock it, you coincidentally stop the disk from spinning. No scratched disks here!

BTW, Zelda is the greatest game ever!

Gamecubes are good....FOR ME TO POOP ON!!! (sorry, had to. :p)

Acutally, despite all the raving and ranting about it, it is actually pretty good. I mean, i dont have one but lots of my friends do and we have fun playing the regular popular games as you mentioned (Mario Sunshine, Metroid, THPS etc...) I dont see anything wrong with it so if you want to get one go ahead...:)
