got this for FREEE!!! woot

ECS Mainboard, socket A K7S6A
uses 462pin socket a(is there more then one socket A?)
supports 100/133 MHz FSB
supports AMD Athlon/Duron procs

my first mobo and cpu was for amd64 so im kinda learning back on the older socket a's and such...just wondering about what type of processor would i be able to use, amd athlon xp or a sempron(sp?) processor?

i came across alot of other stuff but im only sort a processor and a case of having a full second computer built!! woot....btw im gonna be using this computer for running various forms of linux on(so i can learn) and for my fiance to surf the web and chat on instant messengers, etc....possibly older games depending on if i sell my current videocard or not..

thanks for any help

go to the manf website, d/l and install the latest bios, there should be a readme that will tell you what is the max you can go

alright, i dont have the computer together yet of coarse, i just got the parts(plus alot of other junk) today and im figuring out what i can use and what works with it...

so here's my build so far from the parts i have laying around:
that ^^^ mobo
unknown processor(possibly xp?)
ati rage 128pro ultra agp(or my ati radeon 9800pro when i upgrade my main build)
kingston valueram kvr-pc133/128-r(looking into better/more ram)
80gb WD hard drive
LG cd-r/rw
*working on an atx case*
no-name sound and LAN

not a bad pc for all but the proc and case being free heh

seriously though, its the mobo worth using or selling with this build?

personally i liked the k7s5a, which was the one before the one you have. there were some issues with the early k7s5as but after you got a later rev there were no real issues. the sis chipset was fast.

hmm, so the jist im getting is sell, sell, sell correct?

here it is btw:http://www.bytewizecomputers.com/products/7/7/320/155
could I really possibly sell it near $50??

i also have a gateway computer that its SEVERAL years old, would i be better just to stick with that? here's the specs i can remember:
intel celeron...not sure which though
"who knows" gateway motherboard...
onboard video
20gb harddrive(i think)
192mb ram
cd drive(would swap)
floppy drive
*note* its in a special sized case, its really small and compact and doesnt have have slots for AGP, 2 pci slots are in it BUT they require a small "rear" slot to fit

just to run linux would this be enough? its running windows ME(gag barf)
