Got a flat tire, probably from a nail. Am I covered for repairs on it at all?

Just curious. I know it will probably only be like 20 bucks to fix, but I wanted to know if insurance covers these things at all. I have state farm by the way.

if it's just a nail hole they have to fix, you should be able to get it fixed for under $10. i got mine fixed for $8, i've had it done for free and for $5 before too.

Buy your tires from Les and it would be free.

They even replaced my dad's brand new tire when he ran into a curb trying to figure out what a car was.

You must be kidding... surely your deductible would be far more than the cost of the tire.

it's only $5 at my gas station to 'plug'

if it is unplugable then it gets expensive

I hope it's not in the sidewall.

You'll go to get it patched and they'll tell you it'll be 2hrs before they can get to it. Then they get to it, and if it's in the sidewall, they tell you they have to replace the tire and the prorate it -- because that's the way it works. So it costs you 50% of a new tire.

Then they tell you it's a bad idea to replace just one tire, your car will not handle right. So you have to replace the opposite side too and that'll cost 'ya because Road Hazzard only covers the one bad tire. And then that model tire is out of stock or isn't made any more so if you replace it with the new model the front and back treads will be different and could cause handling problems that they won't warranty. You can keep the other side as a spare if you want. You might as well, because you'll have to pay a disposal fee if you don't. But you'll really have no use for it if you do keep it for the same reason you are replacing two tires.

Pretty soon you are looking at $150 easy and they want to sell you road hazzard warranties on the new tires too.

I hope it's not in the sidewall. :p

Even if it is covered, I would recommend against it. Little frequent claims will raise your insurance premium more in the long run than one massive accident would that totals your car. The companys know that major accidents are usually a once in a life time occurence, but if you run to them with every single problem they are going to start watching your file very carefully.

I guess calling your State Farm agent would be a silly idea.

I don't like getting just the plug to fix a flat tire. I had one plugged once and about ten miles out of town the plug blew out and I shredded the tire. I was on one of those washboard roads and thought it was just road noise. The car really didn't feel that different. I finally saw some chunks of tire going past and stopped. I have never got a tire fixed with just a plug since then.

I recently had a nail hole in one tire pactched, a slow leak fixed in another and all of the tires rotated for $28.

Whatever insurance deductible you are carrying on your car should be way over that amount.

This is true. They fix for FREE in North Dallas whether you bought it from them or not. My wife had them patch an original tire on her CRV about a month ago.
