It's nice but I'm not particularly impressed. TN viewing angles are real. That said, I was unwilling to put up with IPS glow and 2160x1440 VA monitors don't exist. GSYNC is really nice. The color was fairly putrid washed out yellow out of the box but after calibration everything looks pretty good.

So I guess this is just an expensive hold me over monitor for a year or two until something competent comes out. I was craving higher resolution and the backlight on my U2410 was on the fritz.

You could have tried PLS panel, some of the latest revisions are reported to have very little glow.

But yeah, in general I find it ironic that so many people spend so much time obsessing about this or that CPU, or this or that GPU, or whether we should spend extra $200 for faster 3600 ram instead of 3200. And yet very few spend any time at all shopping for a good monitor they'll love considering this is the part that often makes or breaks a good PC experience. I suppose different strokes for different folks, but nowadays I think selecting proper monitor is just as important as the rest of the system.

I hear you on IPS glow. I have two 27" 4K HP Envy monitors, I love them - 4K, IPS panels, thin bezels, very stylish. They're not without drawbacks, and IPS glow is one of them. That said, I hate TN with a passion, I just can't stand the color shift when viewed off angle. Can't wait till we have affordable OLED monitors without burn-in effect.

I don't recall any recent gaming oriented Samsung PLS monitors, and I don't think they've made a GSYNC monitor yet. Also their recent Freesync monitors (VA) have been pretty bad with narrow ranges, frequently reported flickering problems, and heavy purple shift on the colors.

Yeah, high frames and no tearing is pretty fantastic. And smoothed low frames is a lot easier to deal with than low frames with stuttering.
