I took my son to Guitar Center tonight and got him this starter set for $159.00 and I got myself a Fender to play to help keep him interested, I got this Squire Bullet for $79.00

I had two of the 20% off coupons from their website, they didnt want to give 20% off both items but my son paid for his and I paid for mine separately, saved a total of $60.00 off the sale price 😀

I know they are not the greatest pieces but they sound very nice and look to be good quality. They are perfect for my son to fool around with until he decides if he wants to keep playing, I think he will just by the look in his eyes when I told him I wanted to get him a guitar, and the look he had when we walked in the store and he saw all that stuff.

This is the Epiphone Les Paul Special II Player Pack my son got.

and this is the Fender Squire Bullet Stratocaster I got (mine is black/white)

In my sons pack there was an electronic tuner that he used to tune them, neat gadget.

Awww, cute 🙂 Too bad you got a Squire though. Hope it will stay in tune for you.

Haha seriously. I started out on a Squier bullet, and I am sorry to say but that guitar was horrid.

I plan on asking my son to show me what he has learned, kind of asking him to teach me things, he likes knowing things that I dont 😉

Heh. You're getting him lessons then?

Have him play for 10-15 minutes a few times a day after he starts to build up his fingertips. Otherwise he may quit quick due to finger pain. It's what causes most people to quit.

Feel free to PM me if you need any advice. I've taught a few kids and have some pretty good techniques.

He has played the Viola for five years so he knows how to read sheet music and has built strength in his left hand and toughened up his fingertips.

He seemed to be getting bored with the Viola and showed an interest in the guitar so we'll just have to wait and see.....

the couple of epiphones i've played were pretty decent. i have a fender tele i love, but i haven't played any squires.
