Bounty sheet for a filter! That's ingenius! Did you use a fresh sheet or one that had been used? Damn, that's a great idea. I'm gonna go get one right now. 🙂
I've been buying these cheap cases lately that have a long vertical vent on the backside. Its perfect to use plastic ties on RadioShack squirrel-cage fans pointing right at the voltage regulators. Coupled with a Golden Orb and heat is radiated very well away from the entire motherboard. One 5-1/4" bay is absorbed for a tri-fan hard-drive cooler. Add a ventilation hole in the top of the case and no additional exotic fan arrays (aka rows of turbines) are necessary. 🙂
Plastic tie (2x) $.10
Squirrel-cage fan $10
3-fan HD Cooler $12
(Cheap) 250W ATX-case $30
Thermaltake Aircooler (GORB) $12
I only created a duct that goes from my alpha heatsink to the case whatnot and then made two 6cm holes above it, so the alpha heatsink blows the heat out of the case. Then I made my own 9cm cardcooler ...and added two 4cm fans on my g400.
Going to later add a intake fan on the front of the computer and find a place for my 8cm blower. Then I also have a button I can switch on that turns on my blower.
I have a work in progress right here with my 6896A. Its basically lots and lots of fans, no eye candy, just functionality(hopefully). I guess I could take a few shots and post them if anyone's interested.
