Got a Comcast HTV box today

And they didn't activate the FireWire connection :|. Legally, they have to, so they're sending someone out tomorrow. Damn you, Comcast.

Nah, I don't want an antenna hanging out, and I'm 60 miles away from the nearest broadcast centers. Plus, Cinemax isn't 5C here :).

Ya well my parents got one that says DOLBY DIGITAL on the front...with no digital out on the back...:confused:

Called them...they said it was a misprint :|

It can be, if you have a regular tuner installed.

I do, wont it downsample the HDTV broadcast though, the site I saw said you need to open it from vlc player to watch it, I didnt see how to integrate it into windows xp mce eshell ?

Basically what happens if you have a regular tuner is it records two versions, the FireWire HDTV version and the regular tuner version. Then, I think it auto-deletes the SDTV version. I don't have a regular tuner though, so I can't vouge for how it works.

If you don't want to do that, SageTV works well with just a firewire STB.
