Got a car insurance question..

Ok first off my friend bought a used 2001 ws6 trans am which was beautiful aobut 2 months ago and paid 22 grand for it.

Anyway one day i guy going 50-60 mph down a side street blacks out and plows into the back of his car ripping the whole rear apart then the front plowed into the next 4 cars in front of him.

he has all state full coverage and theyve been dragging balls for 2 weeks already.

he's curious how much he's going to get back from this and how long will it take to get the cash back

i have digi pics b4 the crash but not after... if anyone wants

he wants us to guess how long All State will take to process the claim and cut a check for the guy and whether or not it will be for anything close to the $22K he paid for the car

Then in that case I have to apologize. I read it as 'backs out' as in reverses. So I take that back. But not my feelings about the horrid post.

CIFF NOTES:

Friend had nice car.

Car hit by someone else while it was parked.

Insurance company is dragging feet, wants to know how long before friend receives $.

Is the car going to be totalled? If not, then he should get the cost of repairs. The repairs will need to be done by a body shop that is authorized to do the work by the guy's insurance company. I don't see why the person would get any cash for the pocket out of this.

If it is going to be totalled then I'm not sure. My first instinct is to say that if he doesn't have insurance where the difference between the value and his loan is given, he may be SOL. But then I decided that's not true since the other guy's insurance company will be paying.

Also when you say he has all state full coverage, who is HE? If it's your friend then why does that matter? It matters what the person who blacked out has for insurance.

I read it as BLACKS OUT. Looks like you can't even read correctly. No edits on his post either.

EDIT: Bah, didn't read your reply after someone else pointed it out.

Is the insurance paying for his rental right now? If they are, I wouldn't mind much.

o yea the guy that hit him is still in a coma, will that slow the process down as well? just curious

I dealt with all state recently after one of their drivers rear-ended while I was at a dead stop for a light. It took them over a week to do the appraisal and another two before they mailed me a check and I could put my car in the shop.

Even though everyone's accounts matched up, all state wanted to talk to their driver again before sending the check. Their driver went on vacation. :roll:

Finally I got sick enough of it that I called about four or five times in one day and made myself enough of an annoyance that the claim worker wanted to get rid of me. They mailed my check that day.

I put a lot of mileage on the rental they were paying for just to thank them properly.

It probably varies based on location, but tell your friend he's probably going to have to be patient. Not so patient that he lets them walk all over him, though. As for what value he gets on the car... depends. He will get the cost of repairs + a rental if it's not totaled. If it is totaled, he will probably get NADA value for the car, which could be less than he paid for it.

well the car isn't driveable... because it looks like a crushed can. they didn't give him a rental either because they said that HE has to pay for it, even though he had no fault in the accident.

and for you ws6 lovers, the car had a ravens exhaust and the car was a sexy ass red :D
the car sounded so sexy...

he's now planning on getting the yellow anniversary edition if he can find one for a reasonable price.
