Got in all my parts for my watercooling setup today (Eheim 1048, DD Maze1, Innovatek GF4 block, 5x9x3/4" oil cooler, and enough hose and clamps to get it all together :))

Its going to be a closed system all going in an Enermax CS-501 case on my OC'ed axp 1500+ (currently @ 1.7ghz) and OC'ed ti4200 (270/540mhz). I've got a few ideas, but looking for some feedback from you guys.

My proposed ideas to fit all this crapola into my case:

-Going to attempt to get the PSU moved down into the lower 3.5" drive bays, or possibly where the rear 2 exhaust fans go, the drive bays look possible, but I'm not sure about air intake/out for that that, and just the pure fact the physical dimensions dont work now with my 2 HDD's in there, I may possibly place them elsewhere to get the PSU in there. Putting it where 2 exhaust fans are would be pretty easy, just would need to cut out the remaining metal from where the fans are, and since I already totally cut out thsoe areas for the fans, I'd need to make a little bit of a trim plate for it because of some dead space that would exist around the back panel of the PSU. The only problem with this is that if I were to put in a window (which I think I'm gonna wanna do after the WC'ing goes in) is that it would block the view of most of the mobo :(.

-If I get the PSU moved like I intend to, I had previously bought a HDD cooler that takes up one 5" drive bay, and has a front plate that is basically just a grill with 3 30mm or so fans on it to blow air over the drive. The fans are totally removeable, which would leave me with a nice grill for an intake on the front of the PC. My plan with that is, is to use the top 5" bay and cover that with the grill, and build a duct in a
___
......IIIII____
shape along the top of my case, with my rad in the area of the I's. This way the air would be pulled up through the fins of the radiator as it was pulled through the duct, as well as seal this off from the rest of the case (and the nasty hot air in there as well). I was thinking of just a straight duct along the top, but I figured that wouldnt work so well as the air would simply get sucked OVER the fins as opposed to THROUGH them :) I would have a few fans at the end of the duct exhausting the air out the back of the case.

-And seeing as how I only use one CD drive, I have lots of room in my 5" bay, cause I have 4 5" bays, and will only be using 2 (one for cd, one for the grill/cover to the duct. I figure I can put the pump in the lower portion, with the fill tube coming down from the side of the drive bays.

I was going to place the radiator at the bottom of the case pulling air up through the bottom, but I've got 2 PCI cards, my AGP, and another PCI card opening filled up with an optical/digital I/O card for my soundcard, and seeing as how I'm nto having any problems with my IRQ's, I want to leave them as they are now.

Basically I'm just looking for any feedback, and if I'm on the right track with how I might set up my radiator in a duct like that. And of course, I'll have pics :D

After working about 5 hours today on the duct idea, I've given up on that, and decided to just basically strap the radiator to the top of the case with a few 92 or 120mm fans pulling air through and exhausting it out the top. Either that, or go buy some extra lengths of those, and mount the radiator/fans and pump in a small enclosure of their own outside my case, although I'd rather not, as I want to preferably try to keep everything IN the case :)

I HAVE however accomplished getting the PSU mounted very nicely on the floor of my case, and I used a "donor" PSU (mwahahhaha) and cut the back plate off of it, to use to cover the hole where the PSU actually goes. I kept the power switch/cord plug on it, and I cut up an extra power cord for a PSU and soldered the plug end of it to the fake panel plug, and ran the other end to the PSU inside the case :D Now I just have to figure out WTF I'm going to do with all the extra molex connectors and 5 miles of extra wire coming out of my Enermax Whisper 431w, as all I'm going to need with the watercooling setup is the power plug for the mobo, 4-5 for cd/zip/HDDs/floppy, and few more to power the exhaust fans on the roof (where the rad will most likely end up going).

I'll have pics up tomorrow :) I'm really surprised at how nicely the PSU fits where it does, my only thought is that having it exhaust into my case isnt the best idea. lol Shouldnt be a big issue w/ the watercooling I dont think, seeing as how I'm not nearly pushing the PSU to or anywhere near its limits :)

Wow, have fun. I haven't done much with my computer in the past little while. That sounds really fun. Keep us informed.
