I upgraded from a Geforce2 MX400 32MB so I thought I was in for a huge surprise. I decided to do the softmod to 9800pro right off the bat and lo and behold it worked. Smoothvision 2.1 and all. So I run 3Dmark01 and I get 8405 marks?? What could be the problem? It was a brand new sealed Built by ATI board as well. Any thoughts? BTW this is running on a 2.4B@2.61 and 512mb's of PC1066@PC1160

did you uninstall the nvidia drivers?

did u use a registry cleaner and/or detonator destroyer?

did you disable anti-aliasing and anistrophic filtering?

made sure it's working at 4x or 8x agp mode?

if all else fails, format!

Well I went into the bios and found out that the AGP aperature was at 64mb. Turned it up to 256mb and now ran 3dmark and got 13,795. Much better but I still think it should be higher.

You're on the right trac, keep looking, and clean out those old nVidia registry settings. You just can't install one set of drivers from one manufacturer over anothers without completely cleaning the registry and then not have some issues.

If you can try putting the AGP aperture to 128 MB as that's the recommended setting.

Also make sure you remove all traces of your nVidia card and make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system.

Use custom settings and put everything on high performance in your video card settings with AA and AF boxes checked.Turn vertical Sync off.
