Ordered something from a local B&M and payed via PayPal. A few hours later, got email notification that it's ready to be picked up . Did that the next day and signed out for it.

3 days later I get email notification for a $49 refund and today it's already back on my PayPal account.

Not sure why payment was refunded since I already have the item and already gift wrapped. 😵😕 Gift is worth more since there was a 20% discount.

Looks like I'll have to visit the B&M tomorrow and explain to them what happened. Has this ever happened to you and what would you do?

No... Only thing comparable was me refunding a textbook ($150) to Amazon and never getting the refund money. I e-mailed, they said "it was lost" and still gave me money. I feel bad if the book got lost because I just stuffed it into a bubble-wrapped envelope and put on the Amazon-made print out label. Think I put my return address on.

Sadly, most people here would just pocket the money. Oh, and then turn around and badmouth the next person like you on the forums for not trying to return the money sooner 🙂

No, not Best Buy. They sell Toys in bulk. Item I got was alternator sized. 😛

Went to the B&M (1.5 miles away) and showed the paperwork of the transaction. Asked why the funds I payed with were given back to my PayPal account. They couldn't explain it and even find the paperwork I signed that I picked up the item last Sunday. Placed was packed that day, so it could have been misplaced with the refunds section by mistake. People were returning things they bought BF so I had to wait in line. Offered to pay but they didn't know how to do that, inventory didn't show a shortage, it was sold out too. I was never issued a receipt since the email notification served as the receipt.

Read all the PayPal transactions and it went through a review/approval for the refund. Not sure what to do next. 😕

I was double paid once for a item I sold to a company that pays for used electronics. I contacted them 3 different times about it and all I ever got once was "that's weird, we'll look into it" an the two other times I didn't even get a response.

I left the extra payment there in my account for over a year expecting it to get figured out. Never did and that was a few years ago now.

once when i purchased a jacket at JCPenny 8 years ago. it was the first purchase i made with them and it was online. they reversed the charge for no reason. free jacket for me, so i made another order to see if they just like to give me free stuff. they didn't reverse my 2nd order 🙁

Contact corporate? Thank them for the free item. 😛

They baited you into a bogo deal for jackets that they would have had to sell 50% off otherwise 😉

Wait a few more days to see if they try to take the money back, if not, donate the $49 to your favourite Christmas charity.

I came in to tell you to do the right thing and return the money, but TBH what you just described is about the length I would personally be willing to go. If they're unable to sort out this issue at the store, after you've waited in line, I think you're good to go ahead and stop worrying about it. Just be prepared to pay them back the money if they come knocking.
