Got 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday

It hasn't sucked too much so far, just pretty sore and swollen. Still don't think eating solid foods would be a good idea.

Couple questions: When you got them removed, how long did you wait before going back to solid foods?

Any tips to cure some boredom? I have some time off anyway, but I don't really feel like just sleeping the next 48 hours or so.

I lasted about a day and a half before I got a Wendy's cheeseburger and chili 🙂 I couldn't take the liquid diet thing. I had no pain following surgery, but it did suck having to worry about food getting into the surgical area (especially for two whole weeks!)

Edit to add, I had all four wisdom teeth out. But they had all errupted (grown in) normally.

When i got all four of mine removed, i was a little bummed the day of, but the next day i went to carowinds(and amusement park) and had no problems, except one of my stitches came out on a ride. But yeah, dont use a straw,or drink from a bottle where you have to suck, you'll now when you can go back to solid foods, my biggest problem was that i couldn't open my mouth all the way. And make sure that you keep the holes cleaned out, because you don't want dry sockets.

For those of you that say you ate solid foods right away (or within a day) how many did you have taken out? I had all four of mine out at once, and I found it very hard to chew anything besides spaghettios for several days. I never really took any painkillers, though, so maybe that's why. OP, when is your first return appointment? For me, I went back after maybe 3-4 days and they took some sort of painkiller thing out of the holes and left the stitches. At that point I think I was comfortable with eating solid foods.

I got all four of mine taken out w/ just local anesthesia (e-penis so big)...I was eating porridge a lot and I remember craving mashed potatoes 😀 I think I was back on solid food in a week or 2

That's nothing.. I ate doritos and beef jerky after I got all 4 of mine out.. without pain killers too.
Man I rawk.

Post here to cure the boredom.

I all four of mine sawed out a couple years ago. And I mean SAWED. I went back to the post operation appointmen (the one where they give you more LORTAB+) and the doc said under his breath "those were SOME teeth."

I have a few things that's I'd put on my "do not do" list. 1) Don't sneeze, or blow your nose. 2) Don't try to perform oral favors for anyone. 3) Stay away from the copenhagen 4) and most importantly, don't rinse with abrasive mouth washes for like 3 weeks. If you do, be carefull. I ended up with listerine in my left side sinus cavity because it got between the stitches. That'll make you sick, and it's extremely painfull.

Did they put you to sleep when they took them out?
Did they pull them or cut them out?

I need to get mine out soon, I have one growing in crooked and it hurts right now.

I was supposed to have mine cut out in high-school before they got worse (they were under my other teeth). Suddenly had three major growth spurts (3+ inches each time), and my jaw suddenly had room for my teeth, so I left them.

Fast-forward 10 years, and a friend of mine has a heart attack after an infection from his wisdom teeth travels down his throat through his lungs and into his heart. Spends weeks in ICU. So I decide to get my teeth out, as I don't really have room for them anyways.

The kicker? My wife works for the area's premier oral surgery clinic, and the president offers to do my teeth (for free of course, with sedation). I wake up 10 minutes after I last remember seeing the clock (all four teeth were pulled): No pain. 12 hours later: No Pain. Lunch the next day I'm eating soup with meat. 32 hours after surgery I'm eating burritos. 54 hours after surgery, I'm chowing on barbecue (ribs, chicken). I only took advil to take the slight ache (it felt like my jaw was tired from chewing all day) when I went to bed.

I had mine taken out and it was not bad at all. I was eating solid food the next day. I think where most people run into problems is if the teeth are not partially in yet. Mine were all in at least part of the way and therefore there was less cutting involved. If the surgon has to cut more, I feel that it will be more painful.

I believe that to be the case. My bottom 2 were partially exposed and they hurt alot less. The top 2 were impacted, with roots ending in my sinus cavities. Those two were painfull.

Bottom line for me: The doc said "It's gonna be uncomfortable for a couple weeks." which was BS. They hurt really bad for a couple weeks, and I welcomed "uncomfortable" with open arms.
