How would I got about using these for a farm? Like lets say I had some video encoding I needed to be done, is there a way I could use these computers for a farm to encode for me?

Even in an ideal world, they'd still be slow as balls. You'd save money in the long run by buying a cheap CPU.

I wish it weren't true... I have several old CPUs lying around: Celeron 300a @ 450, P2-450, even a few P3-550 Xeons w/2MB cache!

I know but I still could do it. I mean think about it, yes If I really wanted to save money, I could wait 10 years so that one computer could be like 4X as fast because of the dual core+hyper threading but I don't feel like waiting for ever. Back in 1998/1997 this was sufficient and was what they had back then so the question is, how do I got about doing this?

INFO

If your doing dvd re-encodes then this program will let you use other computers over network to help speed up encoding.
