Title says it all. Don't have room or need for 4 or 5 speaker sets. Any better option on 2 speaker/ sub setups for $200 or less?

Have you checked out the Labtec Pulse 424? It's a great 2.1 system, complete with a huge wooden subwoofer. Dunno if you ever pick up a copy of MaximumPC, but they rated them 2nd best - Klipsch obviously got 1st - and @ only $39 through Pricewatch you might want to check them out.

I ordered one for a friend, and saw how kick-ass they were first hand.

Get klipsch! I've got the labtec 2.1's, and I must say, although they sound pretty good for 40 bucks, I usually opt for my nice sony headphones- the sound quality is about 2 million percent better... Anyhow, my dad bought the klipsch 2.1's a few months ago- I've only heard them a few times at his house, but they sound GREAT. Super clean, full, perfect sound.

Hey, if you've got the $200 bucks go for it! You get what you pay for, so I'm sure they're nice as hell.

You should go listen to them first.

I personally don't like the klipsch sound. Overly bright, recessed mids, but with bass with good range.

See if a set of altec lansing acs-48s will do you. A lot cheaper, quite powerful, and better balanced than the klipschs.

$100 leftover to blow on more gear.

if logitech has put out a new set of 2.1 speakers based on the z560s, you should take a look into those. They seem to be competitive with the klipsch for less money as well.

I'd buy the labtec pulse 424s for under 50 bucks, then spend the rest on an Audigy (if you don't have one) or something else you might desire for your system (burner, DVD-ROM, vid card, RAM, HD, etc.)

Klipsch is very good at the top and bottom but thier mid range is not quite as good. Not everyone likes the way they sound. Personally, I think speakers like that are perfect for gaming. Lot's of bass for explosions, lots of treble for the subtle sounds. They are the best gaming speakers you can buy IMO. Go listen to a set before you buy and hear for yourself wether you like the sound or not

hmmm, well for 200 bucks i think you should get the Logitech z560. I know you said you wanted a 2.1 system, but u can always throw 2 speakers in the closet for a while until u feel a need for 4.1. I had the labtec pulse 424's before my logitechs and i can say that they were great, but if u are willing to spend more, i think that the logitechs are best. My roomate has the klipsh, but now we always keep my speakers on cause they sound a little bit better (btw his are the 2.1)...so there is my idea...cheap and great sound -> 424's -> realtivly cheap and best ones -> z560 -> more expensive and still very good sound -> klipshch

I'll second the Logitech Z560. I've seen nothing but good review on them and they are supposed to be as good as the Klipsch 4.1 for <$200.
