Get an oem p4 2.4b and then take the extra cash and get a good hsf...I recommend an alpha 8942 w/ an 80mm high cfm fan......

that is what I am using!!!! I see 34c idle now since this AS2 has really settled in and loads no higher then 42c load in 3hours of divx encoding and hours of prime testing....

Sad to say for most of prime testing and divx encoding my system temp is 1c lower then my cpu load temp...41c versus 40c.....The northbridge does not feel that hot, but I think I may need to pull the heatsink off and put some AS2 on it as well....I am wooried since I am sure they used some sort of adhesive and that is nice since the 2 clip method without adhesive tape may rock and I already cracked a northbridsge core with my first 4g4a+ mobo...

Hmmm. your temps are real good... WHich adjustable is it? Can you give me a link from Newegg? And are you blowing or sucking the air? And no, tha is not meant to be a personal question, so you guys lay off that last statement. I am a preacher for goodness sakes!

I have it cranked all the way up to what speedfan is saying 3680, yet I can tell you I can barely hear it...This systems purrs compared to my amd 1400 days. That system was easily twice as loud due to high rpm 60mm fan. 80mm fans are wonderful. Don't they offer a 80mm to 92mm adapter???

I didn't get it at newegg and I would have to look that up in my records. I have had it since july of 2002 after my horrible experience with ThermalCrap heatsink...Sucking air as the manual insert shows. I tried blowing onto it and the temps intially looked better but my system temps on my 4bda shot way up and I was fearful the heat was being scoured on top the northbridge, top of radeon 8500, and onto memory sticks.

Ahhh... OK, rpm's are the same as mine, so i assume we likely have the same one. I have tried both directions and found the same reults as you. I would be interested in a 80-92mm adaptor and fan... could be quite interesting to see if it will do any better.

I think a 92mm fan could give us higher cfm at same or lower rpm and thus I think it wont change idle temps much bit could really make those idle to load temp swings pretty small.....

I think our 80mm ystech does 48cfm if I remember right at the 3600+rpm level....

I may shop for one this weekend. If you see one, shoot me a link by PM. That way we don't hijack this thread anymore... hehehe

You most likely will NOT get an excellent C1 ocer from ExcaliberPC - That's where I got my SL6EF which is for sale now. :)

We regret to inform you that the item you ordered can not be exported. As a result, we have had to cancel your order.

LOL, I placed an order for a 2.4B OEM an hour ago and just received the same email... That's just retarded. :frown:

Oh well, I'll try to get someone I know to go buy one at Fry's and ship it to me.
