got 2.2GHz :)

Got my 2800+ Newcastle 754 from 1.8 to 2.2GHz. I have cheap Kingmax memory so I set the max FSB to 166 in the EPoX 8KDA3J BIOS setup. I raised the HTT to 245 (245*9=2205). I ran Prime 95 for 8.5 hours without errors. Thats 20% on stock cooling and no voltage change. Just thought I'd let you guys know. 🙂

🙂

Have you pushed for more yet? Drop down to the 133 divider... with 1.6v you should be able to hit 2.5ghz!

Keep us posted..

Good job. Listen to what bjc112 said. I did that (independently) and my 2800+ on the Epox 8KDA3I board runs at 2.5GHz, no problem. Had to drop HT to 3x, raised FSB (or HTT or whatever) to around 278 or so.

Good OC. Looks like you got one of the AX-stepping cores. Some of the socket 754 Semprons also deliver monster OCs at stock vcore.

I hear you. I have ABIT KV8 Pro and the same processor. Got to the same speed as you did, and its actually a 23% OC; I only increased the voltage to 1.55 and I get Prime95 to do 24hrs.

Its incredibly nice to know I have almost a 3500+ processor and I only payed for a 2800+. These processors rock. Dual channel memory? BAH! who needs it!? 😀

that picture show your voltage a bit high at 1.559v ,default is 1.5v on a 2800+.

epox might overvolt. I know my MAX3 did.

:cookie: for you. Now raise vcore to 1.6 and start going higher.

Almost all skt 754 chips crap out @ 2.4Ghz-2.5ghz... 2.2Ghz is as good as it gets for these Newcastles.

Yup, AX. Got it as OEM from Newegg for $119 or so. Runs like a champ at 2.5GHz.

Do you mean almost a 3200+ since they are 2.2GHz?

2200 from a 2800+ is pretty much a given.

Mine gets around 2350-2400 with extra volts, which many of the Newcastles will do.

How high is safe voltage? I raised it to 1.6 and it ran at 2400 for a bit but it would crash after a few mins. Also my memory sucks so I would need to lower the ratio to 133 and that would only put my memory at 176. I wish my board had a 150 option 🙁. Would 1.65v be safe? I think my pc would just be faster at 2200mhz with 200mhz memory anyway?
