When asked specifically by Tapper about those two compounds, Gorka said the United States needs to find ways to work with Russia.

Regarding collaboration with Russia: It was attempted roughly five years ago. The same thing happens each time this is attempted with the Russian Federation: Nice words about cooperation, then furiously working behind the scenes to impede, slow down, or actively break whatever they're supposed to be doing. The current regime in Russia has proved uncooperative.

You can move forward on areas of common interest without surrendering unconditionally on serious attacks carried out in the past. If Russia's requirements for cooperation are that they face no consequences for past actions then they aren't serious about cooperation anyway.

So no, this is just another example of the bizarrely obsequious behavior of this administration towards a hostile foreign power.
