Now he claims HE created the Strategic Oil Reserve!....Even though Carter set it up a year before Gore was elected to office....Drunk or not, GW has got to be a better choice.

Oh, and Gore's Prescription Medicine Scheme....Do you or know someone that worked at the job for years and as part of their retirement it included drug benefits? Under Gore's plan they must drop that plan and only go through the Government for all perscription under penalty of law!

And Lieberman! Will not quit his bid for both a Senate seat AND VP...does he know something we don't? His platforms are like night and day! For one thing if VP and the opposite if a member of Congress....:)

There's something deeply disturbing about Gore's inability to tell the truth. At least when Clinton lies it's to cover up a misdeed. Gore lies even when there's no reason to lie. He lies when the truth is readily available to anyone who cares to check and thus catch him in a lie. There's a pathology working there that's downright scarey!

Harry Browne just keeps looking better and better.

Gore and Bush both suck. I don't think I'm even gonna vote in this election. I wanna see a race between Jesse Ventura and Collin Powell. Then I wouldn't be able to decide who to vote for. Either one of 'em would kick ass.

The best man for the job is Colin Powell. He's liberal enough to attract the moderates, and conservative enough to keep the Grand Ol' Party happy...well most of them. Sadly, it won't happen for a while. There are still too many Americans that would have a problem with a black President and of this pathetic group, a lot litter the Republican party (and give it the bad name it has...at least in terms of being accepting, or the lack thereof). I think Colin has convinced himself a run for the President would be a death sentence...too many crazy racists would go after him.

Dan, yup Albert seems like a compulsive liar to me. I personally trust Shrub more but he's a lap dog for the right-wing leadership and I trust them not...so Shrub can't be trusted either.

Anybody seeing a frickin' trend here!? Vote independent or third-party. Help to end this foolishness in your lifetime.

GL, my guess is we'll see a black male president before any female holds the position. That's my take based on what I currently observe in people, at any rate.

GL,

You're full of crap. First, Americans in general would have elected Powell in a landslide. Second, Republicans INVENTED civil rights in this country, and currently have more minorites and women in positions of leadership than the democrats have ever had.

Unlike liberals, Conservatives don't run around with their quota sheet trying to prove to the world how accepting they are. They don't TALK, they DO. Look at the REAL numbers, instead of the rhetoric, before you make uninformed statements.

Yo Russ! Sup man. I agree with you that Powell would have probably won, but you know damn well that if he was elected someone would try to knock him off. I live in Mississippi (sad to say), and there are still too many hate groups and racists in the south, much less the country. That's the main reason I hate living here. That, and the fact that I absolutely can't stand rednecks. I would vote for him because I think he is , without a doubt, the best man for the job. But dude, you talk about riots, you ain't seen nothin' yet. I gotta move away from here. A word to the wise: Mississippi sux.

Speaking of fairy tales, check out the new, updated version of this classic....

THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

CLASSIC VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing "It's Not Easy Being Green." Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing "We shall overcome". Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Al Gore exclaims in an interview with Peter Jennings that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his "fair share".

Finally, the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act", retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, falling down around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

<< Republicans...currently have more minorites and women in positions of leadership than the democrats have ever had >>

Ummm, I find that pretty hard to believe. Let's look at the logic. Republicans are for $$, most of the $$ can be found by looking at white males.

Ok, that seems kinda condenscending, but it also rings true to me, and as a voter, that's all that counts. Feel free to point me towards evidence that Republicans DO have (more/any) women and minorities in leadership roles-it probably wont change my vote, but it will, ah, improve, the current tone of your statement.

somethingwitty,

Look at the Congress and the Senate. The numbers do not lie. Jennifer Dunn, JC Watts, just to name a couple right off the top of my head. The Republicans have had the lead in that area for YEARS. Stop buying the main stream media crap, and start thinking for yourself.

Russ,

because I didnt feel like working on my english paper for a minute, I did a VERY informal count of democrat and republican women in the House of Representatives.

Basically, I went Here and counted up the names that sounded like women. Obviously my number cant be exact, but the total I got was 33 democrats to 21 republicans. Again, that was informal, but I think it shows the trend I believe to be accurate.

Gotta get back to my paper now.

(I have no life)

somethingwitty,

That's members, not leadership positions. Leadership positions are earned by performance in the job, and granted by ones peers; those already in power. The point is, that the Republicans in power actually have an excellent record on this issue, yet the press and the democrats would have you believe otherwise.

Russ,

I don't have THAT much time on my hands :)

In that case, point me to an article that states that the republican women have been leading committees. I'm not sure how I'd respond, but I'd be curious to see if you could find one. Back to my paper on "Fight Club", for now.

High ranking black Republicans? Off the top of my head:

General Colin Powell
Rep. JC Watts (4th highest ranking Republican in Congress)
(former) Ambassador to the UN, Alan Keyes

Now can you name some high ranking black Democrats (and please don't say Jesse Jackson)?
