I think Gore's coaches did a fine, fine job tonight. :))) He's pretty much killing W, if you ask me. He seems really assertive but not over-agressive. A mix between his performance in the first and second debates, IMO.

What do you guys think after watching 25 minutes or so?

I'm not watching it, but am listening it on national late night radio here in the UK. I'm not completely familiar with the candidates, but I'd have to agree - Gore sounds far more composed and assertive than Bush...

You can tell how it's going after 20 minutes of a 90 minute debate, eh?

Post at 10:30 EST to have any credibility.

BTW: Yelling and being pushy isn't "winning".

Just another humble opinion from good ol' England. Hope Gore wins since I think W should stay in Texas were he belongs! He is thick as sh**t and supports the death penalty! Somebody I would not welcome over here...

Hope nobody is offended...:)

DirkBelig:

I don't need credibility in your eyes. If you have an attack on my credibility, assuming that I do care, which I don't because your opinion has no value to me, support it with something a little more than the fact that I'm posting only 40 minutes into the debate.

I didn't say Gore has "won." I said he is "winning." Read my post before you reply to it. I can't ask for intelligence, but I think you can manage at least sensibility?

And to respond to the one meaningful thing that you said, Bush is being just as pushy as Gore. The only difference is that Bush is being much more vague, whereas Gore is talking about concrete things he wants to do.

What you think is never as relevent as what everyone else thinks.

You may be right, but you can still lose.

And you will lose, because no one listens to you. :)

The reason he could tell bush was being slaughter was that gore crushed bush. He caught bush in lies and generalities, which are basically white lies. That is not being pushy or yelling, it is showing how wrong your opponent is. Bush also started stammering quite a bit from the beatings. Sometimes you could tell that he really didn't really have anything to say, or avoided questions.

Wow, you're frightening me. You're an enigma wrapped in a riddle inside a conundrum. I think Winston Churchill said that. :)

I don't think you're the best judge of the value of opinions. The Brits can participate in the discussion, most of them are smart even if they don't have excellent dental hygeine. ;)

I thought that it gore that got beat into a bloody pulp tonight. Gore dodged questions several times and tried to parse grammer to make Bush a mean republican(ie the definition of afirmitive action). It seemed like Gore was on the defensive for most of the evening.

Gore obviously knew his topics better than Bush, but he came off somewhat mean and arrogant - especially when he kept breaking debate rules. Bush seemed quite wishy washy, but I like his "If you are voting for my opponent, vote only once" joke at the end.

I think Gore won by a slim margin. Scored big on policy, but not so great on personality.

None of this matters. On Election Day, Bore will lose because he's carrying a 230 lb. albatross around his neck. The Slick Willy "you ain't fooling me three times" vote is going to cost him the election.

Well, if you don't like having any responsibility for your life, having Big Brother government make all your decisions for you. If you think that Gore can actually keep all the promises he has made (very doubtful) and also not drive the economy into a recession (likely). If you think socialized medicine is the way to go (remember Hillary's plan) and check the debt that Canada is in. If you even still believe Gore after his exaggerations of the campaign. If you think breaking the rules of the debate and being an ass is good.
Then you might possibly also believe that Gore won this last debate.

<< The Economy and what's going on in the Middle East in the upcoming weeks will have a bigger play into this election that these debates. >>

Red,

Very dumb how a single month can have as much if not more of an effect on people's decisions than the past 7.9 years.

It's just my opinion Red, (didn't I hear that somewhere? ;) )

But I truly believe it. Gore will make you much more aware of the government.
His programs will be much more intrusive into your life then Bush's. I believe his programs will cost much more then we are aware of, and not just in our money in taxes. His programs will make the American people more dependent on the government and I think that is dangerous and wrong.
Some have criticized Bush for not answering Gore's questions. It's hard to answer the pie in the sky promises that Gore makes to everyone with the truth and make it sound good to everyone. No nation can afford to be every citizens mommy and daddy. It is up to us to take care of ourselves and those that cannot do it themselves. It's better done at a local level then going through layer upon layer of government bureaucracy, a bureaucracy that siphons off and wastes much of the needed dollars.
It just seems obvious to me that a caring but minimalist government is the best choice. I believe we have a much better chance of moving in that direction with Gov. Bush then with the socialist intrusive polices of Gore.

I think it comes do to this.

If you like Gore's attacking style, you think he won. He was attacking Bush and generalize about the rest of the issues so you cant be pinned down. two supreme debate tactics. Some, in fact many people think that Gore's style of aggressiveness think that makes him presidential. In america we still see somebody as being the strongest and being aggressive as the best leader, even if he breaks his own agreements to follow the rules, and be rude in the debate by interrupting.

If you listen for the message then Bush is your guy. His message, is that he will work with both parties to get things done. He carries this into the debate, he wont point fingers at anybody but Gore, and even then not hardly at all. He doesnt want to burn bridges that he has yet to cross, let alone those behind him. Bush's message is that he will spend money wisely, and let people decide what to do what to with their lives and money.

I find it interesting that while Bush is accused of "buying" votes with a tax cut, Gore constantly says he will spend more money than Bush, isnt that "buying" votes.

I really liked when Bush talked about the military, where he talked about about spending money wisely on the military as opposed to just spending money.

Overall I think that Bush while not giving lots of details, intends to spend less money on programs, but really wants to make that out as money well spent. Gore came across as saying, I too have a plan, and it is better than his, because I spend more money.
