Gore and Bush, Can we be fair?

Both say that they want a fair election, niether does. Each one just wants to win at whatever cost necessary. Bush wants to stop counting- even if some of the ballots in dispute should be counted, and Gore wants to count even rediculously invalid ballots (at least the ones in primarily democratic counties while leaving out the primarily republican absentee ballots). Both are being told by the people that they trust, that they won, feeding their ego's, and empowering them to act like the asses we see now on tv every day. The truth is, that the election was so close in Florida, that nobody can emerge a clear victor, and niether candidate will take the chance of loss by allowing a truly complete re-count.

I can now say that I believe that niether really exhibits the qualities that I want to see in my president. A real shame. You cannot believe what they say in their press releases, watch the attorneys in court, and the absurd lengths that each is prepared to go to to win becomes evident.

Oh, you Liberals and conservatives can argue all you want, just try to keep the partisanship off this thread. I did.

BTW, I voted Bush--Gun control.

<< Bush already won in a fair election >>

ALREADY won?....Bush has more votes right now......but the election and some of the votes are being contested....it's not over until, well, until it's over.....there's a Supreme Court case, and the case this weekend.....and more cases.....

Stay tuned....

An election is over when it is certified and a winner declared. That has occured, and Bush is that winner. All else is semnantics and wishful thinking.

The election was certified. Its over. But now Al Gore has nothing to lose. There is no way he will be the party nominee in 2K4 so his whole life is on the line here. And the rest of the Dems don't care if he makes a fool of himself because he will continue to hurt Bush as well.

The election is over? I thought there was a contest going on....and lawsuits?

What's that all about then? What if Gore won the contest, and got to manually count the contested votes, and got 600 more out of the 13,000? Wouldn't Gore be the winner of the election?

Or how about if one of the two suits like the one in Seminole County go Gores way? Won't he be the winner of Florida and the US Presidency then?

I sayu that there really isn't a "winner" until all this has been decided.

Ride, not a flame at all, understand, but sit back and think for a second how you would be thinking, posting here, and feeling if Gore had effectively had the most votes and the lead since early in the morning on Nov. 8th? You'd most likely be doing the same as the people backing bush right? IMHO.......There will NOT be a winner in this election! Oh yes, one of these two guys will be named President of the United States.....but in a portion of the country for the next four years, this election will have been stolen by the other! Honestly, the way the Economy looks, do you Really want the guy you are rooting for, whomever it may be to be the next President?

I'm not really rooting for anyone....

I've just found the whole post-election fascinating.

Bush is ahead right now. He may well end up with the most votes, or Gore might. But no one has won, yet.

ride525:

All the votes have been counted accept the ones Al Gore thinks are for him. The dimpled pimpled pregnant swinging chads are useless crap invented by beaucrats that don't know how to run a precise election.

Bush won the election under the rules in place when the election was held. Everything the Gore camp has done has been to rewrite the rules to allow for them to make up new votes.

If a football team was trailing in the Super Bowl and managed to get the ball within INCHES of the goal line when the game ended, causing them to lose, 21-20, they don't get to say, "We had a 11-5 regular season and they only had a 9-7 record. Everyone know that if we had another down, we'd be the winner. Now give us the Lombardi Trophy!"

Gore has NEVER been ahead on ANY of the counts and recount. Only by changing the rules and making NON-votes into vote for Gore can he win.

You've lost. Deal with it Al.

rmeijer,

I wasn't baiting anyone, I was stating a fact. Goresky's lawsuits were losers to begin with, and he's now gotten smacked in court three times in a row. It's over, and Bush won. Bush won when it was certified.

Neither side can be fair.

To be fair is to allow the other side to walk all over you.

No one wants that.

I say fight it out. Gore has a huge uphill battle to fight, and it keeps making the Democrats
look bad. Keep it up!
