It was reported that Gordon Lightfoot has died at the age of 84.

What a great musician and story teller.

He was my dad's favorite. Always liked to tell me about the time he wandered into some backwoods bar in Manitoba or Alberta, back in the 80s, and there was Gordon and his buddies onstage. Had teh chance to talk to him and couldn't bring himself to say much. He wasn't one for fandom, but he respected the hell out of Gordon Lightfoot. Said he was probably the only musician he'd travel specifically to see.

When Elvis, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash all praise you and cover your stuff, you know you did something right.

RIP Gordon

Black Day in July smashed through lot of crap we fed ourselves about ourselves. RIP Mr. Lightfoot.

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is one of my favorite songs. Such an amazingly talented man and true Canadian icon. It's a sad day for sure.

There was a time in this fair land when Gordon did not sing
When the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun
Long before the minstrel and long before the wheel
When the green dark forest was too silent to be real
