i just completed a case study on the restaurant/microbrewery Gordon Biersch, located in the the midwest and the pacific coast. Anyone been to a Gordon Biersch before? I'm heading out to Cali, and i figured it would be kind of cool to experience one of my case studies.. but is it worth it?

It's nothing to write home about IMO. Beer and food are both mediocre. The one here in Atlanta I've been to has the added bonus of attracting the late-20's/early 30's "hipster" crowd (read: "self-absorbed assholes"). No thanks.

It's mediocre. Food portions are small and pricey. Beer is reasonable. Atmosphere is nice but pretentious sometimes.

I've been to the Gordon Biersch in Old Town Pasadena. For the money, it's about the worst food I've had. I mean if I wanted a mediocre food, I would've gone to a mediocre place and pay mediocre price.

It's just not as cool as they seem to think they are and the beer is seriously vanilla boring. I'm sure there are much better brewpubs in CA you could visit.

California sucks for drinking. People are too busy eating nuts and berries and waiting in line at Jamba Juice.

Average beer, expensive food. Yup, sounds like your normal drinking place.

Though this was at San Jose Airport....so who knows how it is at a real store.

I got a chance to go to the one in Washington DC on their opening night, one of my fiancee's friends got some passes to a benefit they were having, you just donated $20 and you can eat and drink all you want ....all in all I thought it was a nice place, it wasn't cheap nor was it expensive...they had a decent selection of their own house brewed beer, nothing spectacular but nothing bland either...it wasn't ultra high end nor was it Chili's level either...

I think it was a nice place, but that is only based on one visit...the prices on the menu seemed about average for that type of venue however at the time I went there were somewhat limited with regards to the menu selection....

all in all if I had the opportunity I would go again just to see what it is like on a regular night...

one thing to say, if you like big quanities of food for a low cost then this place might not be your type of eatery...but if you like a decent atmosphere with smaller portions of good food then it is ok...

I would say go just for the heck of it, it won't break your bank account as long as you lay off the sauce, but then agian that can be said for most places.
