i finally got a gopro and am interested in a few accessories.

- small handle adapter (type to just hold while snorkeling)
- selfie stick type of extension
- head mount
- sport mount (to hook to my fishing rod)
- some kind of storage/carrying case

now i see there are like a billion different types of each of these and was just wondering if 3rd party ones are as good as first party ones. the price difference is huge on these.

i'm also interested in the longer selfie sticks adapter, to be able to take the picture from the handle - is this a standard feature of these? or do you typically have to set it on a timer if you want to take a picture, and then extend out to take the picture while the timer goes down?

anyone have any of these types of accessories they recommend?

I got one of the big grab bags of various mounts from amazon that work awesome. Like $35 for everything. Not as good of quality as the first party mounts, but they work just fine. I have a bunch of them mounted all over my snowmobiles, and even in the snow, wet and cold I have yet to lose my camera.

The chesty mount is the one I use the most with mine, but I use mine when I am going snowmobiling for the most part.

Lots of spare batteries is nice, and the the battery bacpac has been very nice to have as well (though it does not work to well with the chesty mount, hard to get it to lay flat enough with the thicker profile).

I had a GoPro HD Hero2. Bought it to use as a dashcam at work, filmed about a dozen hours of stuff. Did all of it without an LCD, spare battery, or special mount -- I only used the head-strap that came with the camera.

Then I started collecting accessories. For example, bought a suction cup mount, LCD Bacpac, and tripod adapter and sold both for 50% on Craigslist. Never used them. Got rid of the camera and accessories over the summer.

Point is probably to try to get by with as few as possible, see if you really are going to use your camera or chuck it in a corner.

well i know i'll use the little handle one as soon as i go on a tropical vacation when taking it underwater. same with the selfie stick probably. and i know i'll use the sport adapter come next year when it's time to go fishing, and the carrying case i just kind of want to store it when it's sitting around at home.

i don't plan on using the camera all the time or anything, but it'll come in handle in specific situations.

For the handle / selfie stick mount, I'd lean towards GoPro's option, personally. http://shop.gopro.com/mounts/3-way/...8HAQ&dclid=COallJXkgcoCFUp9AQodhKEHOQ&start=1

It's going to survive all weather conditions and being in salt and fresh water, which the 3rd party options might not offer. It's on the pricier end for sure, but it looks pretty versatile.

For the other stuff, 3rd party is probably just as good.
