Looks like they're scared. I don't blame them, having the 70+ percent of the public sending angry youtube videos questioning why they aren't standing up the Bush on this ridiculous war and destruction of the constitution would make me scared if i was one of the frontrunners too. I bet Ron Paul would love to have a youtube debate though :D

I loved Romney's comments. If he is too presidential to talk to regular americans, he is too presidential for this country.

OP - I'm sure that the comments would be filtered, like with the democrats - but the bigger fear of the GOP would be to give any further attention to Ron Paul who would deflect away from those they want to have run for office.

/not a Ron Paul supporter...
//just a by-stander....

I thought the "regular Americans" were the "stupid sheep" who voted for Bush two times? Aren't they the same "regular Americans" which the left likes to constantly berate as the reason this country is in such "terrible shape"?

Maybe he's wise enough to realize that this YouTube debate is a farce.

The YouTube debate is a farce... but Romney isn't wise. He's a republican version of John Kerry. So I mean, he's better.... but not much.

Snowmen are regular americans?

The GOP are right, actually. The debate questions were ridiculous and leading. That guy referring to his gun as a baby was chosen because it made him look like a freaky gun nut.
I dont think that many people watches youtube.
It was televised on national TV. I didn't watch it on youtube, either.

The YouTube debate format only works if the delegates in attendance are put in the position of having to answer truly tough questions...I understand the need for screening to ensure that ridiculous questions, or verbal attacks disguised as questions, don't make it through...but I don't think many provocative questions made it through for the Democrat debate.

Did anyone think that the questions posed to the Democrats were any different than those typically posed by a moderator? Most of the questions that made it through were softballs...regardless, not many of the candidates even directly answered the YouTube questions, but rather used the questions as spring boards from which to launch scripted campaign talking points.

I like the YouTube debate format in theory...if anything, the information age is providing a conduit through which the American people can more directly engage the political process...and that is a good thing.

Wasnt the goatsee pic flashed up on that youtube screen at the debate? Youtube is fun and all, but lets face it, a good number of people that actually interact with that site are immature asshats. Just read the comments left for alot of those videos. Democrats are just trying to further their "hip" image by pandering to a bunch of retards.

Sorry, but after watching parts of the last one all I can say is, what a joke. Really, it could have been staged for all that it was

I bet most YouTube watchers don't vote or aren't old enough to vote.

Thats the main problem for democrats. Aside from the typical constituencies that vote for them no matter what, they seem to spend a ton of time going after people that cant, or dont vote. Young people dont really vote, illegals dont vote, etc.

That's because once people get jobs and families and become productive members of society, they become conservatives.

Goes with the old saying... what do you call a Democrat with 2 kids?

A Republican. :p

Also noted in the adage "Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."

I think Youtube sponsoring the debate just plays into a Republican view that the internet is a series of tubes. :D

You know, if you think about that for a second, that's not exactly a point in the Republicans' favor. Going from single to married with kids seems to turn people from intelligent, interesting people to people who talk to total strangers about their baby's poo for 20 minutes. Although it's possible that is a fairly accurate description of Democrats turning into Republicans, so maybe it fits :D
