Swing voters: we would like cheaper cost of living

Republicans: how about we destroy the global financial system instead trying to cut SS/Medicare/Medicaid

Sing voters: that's not what we asked for

Republicans: we know but fuck you

That will be fun so we can once again have the same discussions about why you don't give in to hostage taking, followed by news reporting that will say 'both sides are refusing to compromise'.

I assume that we'll already be having that conversation since the government will probably already be shut down due to other GOP demands.

It's funny/sad how the GOP's stance on public policy in a democracy is to enact it through:
1) threatening the world economy
2) getting judges to impose it by judicial fiat
3) try to have all federal laws sunset so they just go away on their own

No part of their plans actually involve attempting to convince a majority of Americans to support their position.

The press, for its part, has failed to communicate the reality of the US political situation where there is one party that's willing to govern and another that just wants to tear everything down so the poors don't get anything and for cultural resentment.

When the Press is reduced to "infotainment" and other such abominations, where the people that need to hear it will not ever hear it, because they refuse to or there is no other channel or station that will talk about it, because they have been in the "brain washing machine" for decades. They will never vote for their own interests.

So obviously if the Repubs take over the gov't again if they can't outright get rid of that law they will have their big pharma business buddies embedded inside the Medicare administration like ticks in a dog's ears and corrupt the hell out of that dept. exactly like how Trump installed DeJoy at Postal Service and DeVos at Education.

Even if they take control of Congress they won't have a veto-proof majority. If they do take control how much will the Democrats try to get done in November / December?

Was it smart to unveil this before the midterms... oh wait--they never cared about how we actually vote (I guess that cat is outta the bag now)... The GOP only cares about keeping the dark money faucet flowing to finance the next round of BS election fraud lawsuits.
It's why voter suppression, and now just outright we don't care what the voters want, Republicans must win all elections, crap is all about. No thinking persons want their shit!

Speaking of bills and screwing Americans especially senior Americans....

Just wait seniors, should you vote republicans back into control.
Your social security will no longer be "security", nor social.
First.... a new republican congress will freeze that much needed social security "cost of living" adjustment.
Then... republicans will "roll back" past cost of living increases to previous year levels.
And eventually.... they will end SS altogether as you know it.

How do we know this???
It came direct from the mouth of Donald Trump's, remember?
During Covid and Trump, Trump put a stop to paycheck SS tax withholding to, as Trump put it, to give workers more take-home pay.
However, what people forgot or maybe missed hearing Trump say was when asked if this stop on SS tax withholding could be permanent Trump answered "we'll have see come 2020".
Trump said this with assuming that he would win re-election in 2020, which lucky for seniors Trump did not win re-election in 2020.

How it works...
If no money is coming into SS via SS tax withholdings from paychecks, then we have no money to go out to pay SS benefits. Simple math, folks.

Be forewarned old people, it is definitely on the republican agenda to kill off social security. This has been the case ever since FDR and the democrats in congress started up social security after the great depression. But the difference now is, republicans will actually have their chance to really do it. To take control AND THEN to kill off SS as well as killing off medicare, which is also on their hit-list agenda and has been for decades.

NOT TRUE you say????
WILL NEVER HAPPEN you say????
Oh you poor republican voting senior citizens...
Pro-choice women said the very same about SCOTUS overturning Roe vs Wade and guess what? THEY DID IT. Republicans, with their republican stacked SCOTUS overturned Roe regardless of what you wanted, and of what a majority of Americans wanted.
You see, when it comes to republicans screwing up American's lives, they don't give a shit, not about YOU or what the majority might want.
It will be the same with SS. They will kill it off if given the chance, and in 2023 they just might have that chance. If not in 2023 then definitely in 2024-25.

A word to the wise.... WAKE THE F... UP OLD PEOPLE. Those old people who keep voting red and keep voting against their own best interest BECAUSE they think IT CAN NEVER HAPPEN, NOT TO ME. Yep, it can.

It is amazing.

The GOP in its current incarnation (since Reagan) has been eroding the livelihood of the middle class, and actively pursues policies that hurt those in poverty...and their support with those groups are very high. It is unfathomable.

Co-dependency, I think.

Reagan conservatism specifically created the trapped-nationalist-evangelical-patriot fascism that can only exist from, with, and in complete subservience to this political-social-structure. They exist in misery because they were recruited to it, and desired heavily to be the subservient members of this abusive marriage with the hockey curve.

their shame for shedding human empathy and logic has been successfully and irreparably masked by this masturbatory obsession with guns, murder, false symbols of displaced masculinity, and a stew of personal, anti-other resentment that fills the remaining gaps of personal worth.

These are the lizards of the very same generation that was created ~1967, and they are well past maturing. The modern concept of western democracy can not sustain another molting of this uninterrupted line of fascist reptilian brood-maring.

@zinfamous

I sort of get what you're saying. But it is difficult for my mind to grasp. It just doesn't make logical sense. It infuriates me, because their idiocy affects everyone.

People are willing to put up with pain and suffering if it hurts their enemies more. It's called sacrifice.

Unfortunately the brainwashing is now so successful that the enemies are not Russia or China but the blacks, browns and libtards.

Yeah but they don't think they deserve to be their fellow Americans.

Isn't that the entire heart of the matter?

They don’t deserve to be Americans or they don’t see them as Americans? With the type of rhetoric we see I tend to think it’s the latter.
