For those that consider yourselves Christian, I really am interested in hearing your biblical support for the GOP's positions on things like:

Healthcare
Welfare
War
Minimum wage
Taxes

and any other issues you would like to present.

I wasn't aware that Jesus said anywhere in the bible that charity must be forced and wealth redistributed by force of law.

So why must they justify their opinions with their religion?

If Jesus appeared today and proved himself to be the Son of God by perfoming miracles the libs of ATPN would murder him.

BTW, I believe in the flying spaghetti monster.

Rich Christians don't care about Jesus lol, that's why the words in God we trust is printed on their money, because it's their Gods, not some hippy communist Jesus.

<rant>I understand that those parties are there, however, there seems to always be a a democrat or republican in house with no other parties or ideals represented. the two parties are too extreme in their own ideals to come to any compromise on anything and will end in the death of the country eventually (opinion of course). i understand money talks (campaign funding) but it talks too much and no one is willing on either side, to step up and really take a stand and work together with the other party to do something that's for the people and not for their special interest groups. </rant>

also, you forgot the "the rent is too damn high" party ;)

"And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Discuss.

Young padawan, have you ever considered that your opinions are just as subjective as those you denigrate? have you?

I'm also pretty sure that the Jesus never said that it's a good idea to be a self-serving douchebag, but that seems to be what Republicans got from it. Personally, I don't think Jesus ever actually existed and God it is a giant farce.

Serious answer to a troll thread:

"For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: 'The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.'"

2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NIV)

Then there's the whole philosophy of welfare. To a Christian Conservative, government welfare does more harm to people than good. We are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31). That means we should try to help other people out as we'd like to be helped.

I, for one, do not want to become dependent on the state to pay for me to live. That's unfair to others and it demeans me. Plus, it makes me rely on the government for my well being rather than God.

In all honesty, do you think that the Federal government is actually helping people on welfare or do you think that it's in the best interest of elected officials to have a large number of people totally dependent on him/her to live? Hey, if you don't re-elect me, the "other" guy's going to take away your government entitlement. Talk about job security! That's what our current welfare system is: a way to get as many people dependent on the government to provide their needs.

We've been fighting the "War on poverty" in this country for 50 years (80 if you count the New Deal). To quote Dr. Phil, "How's that working out for ya?" We've spent trillions of dollars trying to eliminate poverty in our country, yet, strangely, it still exists. Huh...apparently throwing money at the problem doesn't fix it. Whodathunkit?

I'm not saying don't help the poor. As a Christian, I know that I am commanded to help the needy. As a Conservative, I know that the best way to do that is not through the corrupt, inefficient Federal government.

Also, in this country, there's a big difference between the "needy" and the "wanty"...

This is what I say on most issues:

If you want to be charitable and caring of others, then go out and be charitable and caring of others. Don't sit on your lazy ass waiting for the government to be charitable and caring with other people's resources on your behalf.

How did we ever manage to survive as a people for all these years without the everlasting love and salvation that only our Government can provide?

Considering the fact that the various Christian churches are some of the biggest and most beneficial charities on earth, I doubt you could call them "self serving."

I have no belief in any theology either, but to call someone who disagrees that the government is the ONLY form of charity "self serving" is rather myopic.
