No, voters do not need to be recorded and there is no reason to. Instead of further creating fear in voting focus on any "enforcers" from any party or ideology. Get their actions on video with sound and minimize exposure of voters. IIRC I don't believe that many places would allow these thugs inside.

Navy seal? First time one intimidates one person I'd file a complaint with the city and call the cops to remove them. If they resist? Well then stun them to the ground and bring them in.
What fear? You walk in and vote. The point of the video is to have hard evidence of any attempt at voter intimidation. The actual filling out of the ballot is still secret, but events leading up to it are preserved. Any suggestion of voter intimidation can be examined, and the perpetrator arrested. Isn't this what we want? This is a simple solution that will avoid a never ending stream of accusations and investigations.

Video may also may settle any disputes about so-called in person voter fraud. It's a much better idea than voter ID laws if people claim to be really concerned about this. If your face is in line at a polling station and you aren't registered to vote, then you may have a problem. But you don't have to jump through hoops to obtain an ID if you don't otherwise have one.

So conservatives should get on board. Here's the deal: repeal your voter ID laws, and replace with laws that require polling stations to have exterior cameras.

The cameras will also deter voter intimidation, and violations of other election laws like electioneering within 100' feet of a polling place.

Oh I agree that no one should be deterred. Everyone must vote.

But what is not intimidating to you may well be intimidating to others.

They want people to be afraid even though they're powerless. Just tell them to fuck right off if they actually show up at all. If they get in your way, call 911. Well, that's if the poll workers don't call first. Nobody's putting up with it.

Because not everyone understands that they're powerless. Most people do. Not everyone.

I think if this GOP plan is going to be reality libs and dems need to broadcast essentially what you said above all across every social media platforms: these people are unarmed, have no authority, and no right to do anything to you. Just ignore them. If they try to harass you, report it to the polling workers and/or call the authorities.

Oh, and turn on your phone cams to capture the harassment on video.

Oh, please. There are people around, you know? Being a disruptive jerk of any persuasion at a polling place will get you a police escort right out of there, at best. Bye, Felicia. Even the conservatards know that. It's all just yakkity-yak among themselves, frothing each other up, disconnecting from reality.

Cameras should be outside, not inside. We don't need cameras on the inside anyway. They violate voter privacy regarding who they are voting for, and there are poll workers on the inside to monitor for intimidation, etc.
also it is recommended that you pn;ly take video from 100 ft from the polling station....but IMO there is nothing that says that you cannot take video of somebody harassing you outside the polling station...again check the laws of your state!

It was presented as an issue that needs to be addressed, someone suggested a simple solution, I agree with that idea. Your opinion is that there won't be a problem, I'm fine with giving that a shot as well.
