Liberal spendthrift Republicans are just as bad as liberal spendthrift Democrats. Why is this still being brought up?

Maybe because those liberal spendthrift Republicans run as fiscally conservative Republicans and too many folks are still buying into that shit.

Which is really the problem. Apparently the average Republican is too dumb to realize the disconnect. We've got people voting Republican who actually think the party is for small government, and people voting Democrat who believe the party isn't corporate owned. Our problem is that voters are dumb.

Wow. I sometimes disagree with Maddow, but that piece was pretty devastating, the more so because she is backing her assertion not with one or two anecdotal examples but with massive numbers of them.

you must vote for the lesser of the two evils. This is why we need a 3rd party, Ron Paul FTW

After Obama and his spending it's funny to hear the leftists complain about the Republicans, on their worst day they never spent like these fools.

And when voters do wise up and try to organize on their own to create a fiscally responsible movement, the media attack them calling them violent extremist racists.

Perhaps this country really is in a no-win situation.

Seriously, though, Maddow is a numbnut, she is too obsessed in finding ways to insult anything that is not a "progressive". Any given situation, if there are 100 ways to analyze it, 99 of which is logical and reasonable to everyone, 1 of which is insulting to Republicans, she will harp on that 1, present it as undisputed fact, blow it way out of proportion, and then bring on a multitude of guests, each of which wrote their own book titled "How Republicans Destroyed America". Always take her rhetoric with very careful consideration.

As long as a representative has no way to stop the stimulus bill, he might as well make it fair for their own constituents if it did pass.

That should have an affect, but I doubt it will. People used to care about Truth, now they seem pre-occupied with mere Winning.

By no means is Maddow Fair or Balanced, she's a Partisan through and through. However, unlike most other Professional Partisans, she's not a raving lunatic and makes sound arguments supporting her positions.

That's a laugh!

Right now they are making the case on her show that those who don't believe in global warming are unpatriotic! Not kidding!

She omits facts in making her arguments, cherry picks which facts she uses, often uses word play (like Republicans oppose the "jobs bill", which means Republicans do not want you to have a job), cherry picks single people out of a large group and presents that person as representative of the whole (especially when insulting the Tea Party). Not to mention she is a flat-out hypocrite every time she accuses anyone she doesn't like as being a corporate shill (which is one of her favorite past-times), while not based on any substantive fact other than $$ sponsership, while completely dismissing the fact that she is paid by G.E. who is in bed with the Obama administration. Do I need go further?

That's what Partisans do. She may be Paid by GE(a dubious accusation on your part), but that in no way is the same as being a Corporate Shill.

I'm going to add, because of the claim of Maddow making "sound arguments", when she was insulting "the stupid" over the global warming claims and the jokes about the blizzard - she fires back by stating Vancouver, where the Winter Olympics are about to be held, has no snow! And of course that is definitive proof of rising temperatures.

Of course what Maddow omits is that Vancouver's average high temperatures in February, historically, is in the mid 40's, which means there is rarely snow in that city. What's the high temps currently in Vancouver? Mid 40's. And she used that as her argument against "the right".

What do you mean "dubious" accusation? Maddow is employed by NBC which is owned by General Electric. No it doesn't definitively make someone a corporate shill, but that is precisely the argument which she presents as fact against others.

Exactly what you just said. She's Paid by NBC, not GE.

We usually have snow on the Ski hills at this time of year.

Change the names and subject matter and you have any "News" opinion show on the air...left or right.

You don't think Republican senators who rail against stimulus, but take credit for stimulus projects at home are representative?

You don't think the 40 senators who said they wanted adebt commission and then voted against it when Obama signed on are representative?

Wake up man. The GOP is playing politics now.

I can't stand her, she's like Olbermann without the luls, epically awful to watch.

Of course republicans have run up the debt more than democrats in the past decades. They are a terrible, terrible party. As are the dems.

Haven't ever seen her before. Olbermann has some comedic points, some raving points, and some wrong points. Every so often I catch Daily, Colbert, and even Beck for their own lulz. I take none of them seriously at all as I know they all cherry pick or flat out lie sometimes just to get their point across.

Nice ad hominem attacks, BTW. Nevermind that Rachel Maddow has been PWNING the GOP. The facts are there and they clearly show repeated Republican hypocrisy.

No matter what proof is presented, a certain dumb/ignorant portion of the population which seems well represented here, is going to keep believing that a) deficit spending during a recession is bad, despite what actual economists say, b) Democrats deficit spend and Republicans don't, c) Republicans who call Obama a socialist and act like stimulus is the Great Satan actually believe those things, and d) the photos of Republican congressmen posing with the big checks are photoshops.

Edit: Also e) that climate and weather are the same thing despite what Bill Nye is trying to explain
