CNN Poll Of Polls - Obama Up By 5%

RealClearPolitics - Obama Up By 3.5%, Landslide EC Victory

FiveThirtyEight - Obama Wins Large EC Victory

But I enjoy the fact that you're complacent about McCain's situation. I hope more McCain supporters share your mindset until they walk into the polls in November.

Obama is running against a horrible candidate who is being portrayed as being no different than our current President, who has a roughly 25% approval rating, and you're all giddy that Obama is up by a whopping 3.5-5%?
Read up on the electoral college sometime. 3-5% advantage in the popular vote equals a landslide EC victory.

Nice dodge.

Wrong! The "Republican Permanent Majority" (DeLay, Abramoff, Hastert) and the Administration have soured the voting public on the GOP.

It will take several election cycles for the pendulum to shift back.

I wonder if this is balanced out by the fact that 74% of registered democrats support Obama while 86% of registered republicans support McCain.

 They're tied in the polls, and I don't think America is ready to to have a black, socialist, terrorist sympathizing president. But I've been wrong before.

Been wrong before? Yuu are wrong now...

OK, he is black (well half)

But he is not a socialist, nor is he terrorist sympathizing (nor will he raise our taxes or take our guns away like many conservatives want to say he will).

Shens

I dont know what "shens" means, but he plans to lower taxes a little on the middle class, and raise it on those that make more than $250,000 per year - basically undoing what Bush did. That is a great thing in my book. Those that make over $250,00 per year can afford to pay more, and SHOULD pay more as they are enjoying the benefits of America more than the struggling to survive middle class.

His social programs beg to differ.

Aside from income tax rates, by rolling back the capital tax rates he is raising taxes on the middle class.

But how does someone making $250k paying more or less taxes affect you? Envy/jealous much?

Uhmm, it adds more money to the federal treasury that pays for services that interact with all of us on a daily basis. What did you think?

As far as 'raising taxes on the middle class' with a raise in the capital gains tax... people checked out that idea and the answer was largely no. Link here. It looks like if you are as generous as can be to the Republicans' position (income of $200k a year counted as middle class), a bit over 10% of the middle class would be impacted by an increase in the capital gains tax. And of course he wants to cut taxes for the middle class in other ways anyway... so yeah.

Sorry I care that I do heavy trading and am part of the 10% of the "middle class" that are impacted
