A Republican congressman disenchanted with his party's stance on women's issues urged attendees at a rally to give money to Democrats to send a message to the GOP.

"I think these are very precarious times for women, it seems. So many of your rights are under assault," Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.)
This is why the Tea Party needs to either purge or destroy the GOP. When you have folks like this pretending to be Republican while joining the Democrat's war on forcing folks to pay specifically for birth control.

He is an enemy of ours and belongs with you.

I bet you are completely unaware that you completely proved what the OP contended.

If the tea baggers/GOP want to be a bizarre fringe party, all the more power to them. As it stands now I think a lot of people continue to vote GOP only out of habit or inertia. If the GOP continues on it's present path it will fade to insignificance in a few years, and some other party will rise to replace it.

On the other hand, you're probably one of those assholes who advocate bullshit like raping women with sonogram wands before they're allowed to have abortions. fuck the GOP.

No insults or personal attacks.

Well said & well reasoned. Thank You.

It's too bad that Repubs don't have to run on their accomplishments rather than their revolving array of emotional bullshit.

We created the greatest inequality since the 1920's!

We overheated & crashed the economy in a fit of free market greed!

We bailed out the Perps!

We do our best to stop financial reform of any kind!

We held UI benefits hostage to fat cat tax cuts in the face of the greatest economic catastrophe since 1929, one created by our own policies!

We forced a downgrade of the credit rating of the US govt!

We held up every presidential appointment possible to gum up the works!

We got thousands of Americans killed & more shot up in pursuit of Neocon delusions of grandeur in Iraq!

We botched the pacification of Afghanistan beyond repair!

And we promise to do more of the same if you're stupid enough to vote for us!

Good for him. The sexist rhetoric on the GOP side of the aisle in this particular election cycle is the worst I have ever seen in my 23 years as a voter.

Quite true. They're so desperate for "Issues" & so isolated in the right wing echo chamber that they're bound to fall for their own bullshit delusions.

Women have fought long & hard for what they've gained, and it's a huge, absolutely huge, error in judgment to attempt to undermine that in any way. Repubs are picking a fight they can't win, and one they can't afford to lose. With any luck at all, they'll do their usual, double down & screw themselves in a fashion they so richly deserve.

The Equal Rights Amendment? Is that still around? It's kind of like a B movie vampire, you think it's dead and gone, but later in the movie someone digs it up and it's on a rampage again.

At what point did democrats equate requiring people to pay for their own birth control with an assault on women's rights?

We didn't. We want paid for health insurance to include birth control as a fully covered benefit.

If you're trying to say that it's only because women should pay for birth control because the *only* use for birth control pills is to be able to have sex with little risk of birth control you need to start getting information from different sources than the one you use...

Here are other examples of "men" in the republican party trying to fuck with women's rights.

Suppose you had one of the loonier members of OT and P&N who were among the anti-vaccines crowd. Would you consider it okay for an employer to say "well, we're paying for health insurance, but we're NOT going to allow that health insurance to cover one of the most basic needs, because we're against vaccines"?

Okay. Those who have a moral objection to birth control should not be forced to do so. Simple enough.

That's not an assault on women's rights.

Somehow getting a disease its not a choice, so a vaccine is warranted against unwanted illness. Somehow getting pregnant is a choice, so birth control pills don't seem to be warranted against unwanted pregnancy.

In short you have more choices when getting pregnant than when getting ill. That said, I still think that birth control should be covered but only if the insurance agrees and is not forced into covering it.

When the birth control is used for treatment of medical conditions like ovarian cysts it sure as hell is an assault on women's rights.

If you're so against birth control then you should support health insurance companies not paying for viagra or cialis since the less people have sex the less birth control would be used no? /sarcasm.

Allowing Insurance companies to pick and choose what the will or will not cover is fucking insane. There are numerous cases of people being fucked over by their health insurer who state behind purposefully vague legal description of what is or is not covered. If they are going to lose money they will drop your ass in a minute.

Yep, letting business decide how to run their business is insane, only in a liberal world. What's next, telling stores/pharmacies what drugs they have to stock and sell too people?

When you get a policy, it is specifically stated what is covered and what is not. If you don't agree, go find a new policy/insurance company. It shouldn't be a surprise when a non covered service is not covered under the policy you bought should it? If they refuse to cover a covered service under the policy that would of course be a problem and reason for litigation.

But you are right, its much better for the government to tell people, especially business how to run their lives. :whiste:

So you agree that insurance companies should be allowed to deny people coverage based on pre-existing conditions, right?
