Unlikely. Their numbers are growing as Democrats bleed support left and right.
Yes, some of it is messaging. But some of it is that a large chunk just don't want what they're trying to sell, agree or disagree.
You would think that after everything the GOP has laid bare the past 6 years, THEY would be the ones losing support, not the other way around. Why do you think that is?
The Democratic Party is the only party that attempts to actually govern - pass laws, regulations, improve infrastructure, etc.
The Republican Party doesn't have a platform other than cutting taxes on the wealthiest people in the solar system, and opposing the Democratic Party because the Democratic Party is Communist/Socialist/Fascist/whatever-phrase-has-been-polled-to-scare-the-Republican-base-this-week.
So, you'll constantly hear how the Democratic Party "can't message", when it can, but every policy failure defaults to Democrats because literally EVERYONE knows the Republican Party isn't going to help...unless it's to cut taxes on the wealthiest people in the solar system.
You can watch as Republicans, Independents™, Libertarians, libertarians, centrists, Democrats, Liberals, Democratic Socialists, etc., all accuse the Democratic Party of being the only party with any agency in government.
The big bad Democratic Party is why Trump was elected President, not the Republican voters who voted for him. Not the Republican donors who gave the Republican Party and Trump billions. Not the mainstream news media that exists to sell advertisements to as many people as possible and hence downplays the Republican Party's treason and fascism... to maximize ad revenue.
And even when a Republican, Libertarian, libertarian, Independent™ or centrist is backed into a corner by the sheer terribleness of the Republican Party...there's always a way out, you see. The ultimate BigLie.
BothSidesDoIt™
That's the phrase that allows people to hand-wave away Republican treason and fascism.
Sure, the Republicans are fucking terrible, but there's a liberal blogger with over 12 consistent commenters who say equally terrible things as an elected Republican Senator from Missouri, so, you know...BothSidesDoIt™.
