I've seen poll after poll like this since the mid-ninties, but the GOP stranglehold continues to grow. They control the federal and executive branch, and have the power to appoint federal judges. They control just under two-thirds of the state governments (which incidentally is very important to constitutional amendments).

The question is not why the GOP is so unpopular-those reasons are pretty apparent. The real question is why the Democratic Party can't seem to capitalize on it.

Because rather than take a contrasting position, they try to be GOP Lite.. Clinton/ Gore/ Kerry/ Hildabeast.

Because Dems don't go out and vote, while Republicans do. Dems also want to be excited for who they are voting for or they won't vot. Republicans get excited enough to vote as soon as they see an R next to someone's name.
