Anyone else notice that Google didnt change thier logo like they usually do on holidays?

I once emailed them a suggestion about Google News (about a week ago) and I got a personalized reply back within 2 hours. Send 'em an email and see what they say.

newegg the same- some online outfits have A-M-A-Z-I-N-G customer service :Q

Once I was doing research into a hardware load balancer and I came across a rebate that newegg didnt have listed. when I told them about it, I had a reply that they were looking into it in about 5 minutes and within an hour they thanked me and they had it linked. :Q

Isn't it Mexico's Independence Day? At least that's what I remember from 7th 8th 9th 10th and 11th grade Spanish classes.

It's just another day for everybody (not just Mexicans) to get drunk, like St. Patrick's day. :D:beer:

The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The Fifth Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexicans over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, but is also celebrated in other parts of the country and in U.S.cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16.

Not really a holiday. If they changed it for cinco de mayo, every rag tag country in the world would want the logo changed on thier national holidays. Maybe google does not want to mess with it.

That was poor phrasing.

It begs the question what defines a holiday, I'm sure Google has given it consideration and decided that this is not a holiday by thier definition. I would recognize the point, but really, IMHO, if they celebrate St. Patties, might as well throw in Cinco de Mayo.

Google's Response:

Thank you for your note.

We enjoy celebrating holidays at Google and are sorry that we missed
one
that's special to you. As you may imagine, it is difficult for us to
choose which holidays to celebrate on the site. We have a long list of
holidays that we would like to celebrate in the future. We have to
balance
this rotating calendar with the need to maintain the consistency of the
original Google homepage as well.

Some holidays that we have not celebrated in the past will be rotated
into
our holiday doodles for future years. Please remember you can visit any
of
our doodles at http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html .

Regards,
The Google Team

It's a regional holiday/celebration. Mexico and the US states around the Mexican border with high Mexican populations celebrate it.
