Google's going downhill.

Its getting harder and harder to find a tech manufacturers websites or specific tech products, not to mention legitimate reviews on tech products, because its so watered down now with price comparison/referral/shopping sites.

One example, I did a search for Lexar's website since its not lexar.com.

I queryed lexar media and their actual site, "lexarmedia.com", wasn't even displayed in the first 300 results.

On the other hand it was 4th on Yahoo's search engine.

Same problem finding info on a specific digicam or printer etc., all these shopping sites have smothered legitimate results.

edit: i've been owned, google produces digitalfilm.com at the top, which happens to go to lexarmedia.com. anyhow these shopping sites have to go, this is a bad example but isn't an isolated problem.

You have to refine the search more.

IE Lexar Media Homepage

The more words you use, the less likely you'll end up w/ a bunch of advertisements

LOL!!! Owned by google!!! hahahaha

I just did a search for Lexar Media on Google.com and it gave the exact same results as Yahoo! did just a minute earlier. The results included Lexar Medias home page as the first result.

Google has some of the most advanced 'search engine algorithms' of any current search engine.

Also, Yahoo! search is power by HP Servers and Googles search engine technology.

indeed x2. 😱

Who woulda thunk digitalfilm.com is the same thing as lexarmedia, especially when yahoo produces lexarmedia.com.

ok, poor example, but I mentioned this and only included this example because its what I came across today but seriously, these shopping sites have got to go. I run into this crap all the time.

hey, google's gotta make money some how right? hence sponsored links.

The sponsored links aren't the problem, I don't mind them. Its the shopping sites that are owning google by getting to the top of the list when imo they're not legitimate results.
