While not very eloquent, he does make a valid point. It has always been intellectuals who push for communism, and then those very intellectuals are the first to be purged after the communist governments are set up.

Be careful what you wish for...

Yea that makes sense. I really don't see what that has to do with conservation though. Oh wait, I guess it's all the commie hippies that want to save the environment.

Not exactly. However, all of the most vocal environmental groups have been hijacked by hardcore leftists with clear agendas that go far beyond environmentalism.

It's not that ecology is bad. It's that the so-called environmental activists are.

And in my opinion, they have done more harm than good for their supposed cause.

Well more harm in what aspect? I think it's important to at least not be ignorant of the fact that we need change in the ways we use energy if we want to be around for a while. I can see how they could do damage to energy companies by lobbying for outrageously tough standards which would cost the companies lots of money.

It's the reputation they've given themselves. It's caused a massive backlash against ANY kind of environmental causes. You even see a taste of it in this thread. By aligning themselves with, and becoming part of leftist, socialist/communist organizations, they have alienated a majority of the people.
