Google's buggy new sync categories

Anyone else finding Gmail (and other, but most importantly Gmail) sync turning itself off on your Android as the People details and/or Sound Search and/or App Data get stuck?

This has hit me twice since I/O.

Happens to me on my S3 and wife's Nexus 4 frequently.

yeah, and then gives me the error on the status bar "needs the password" etc.
