"E-mail as we know it is based on the snail-mail format: you send a message; your friend receives it. Wave makes mail collaborative and instant. When you type a message to a friend, he or she sees what you're typing as you type it. You can jump in and start drafting a reply before the initial message is complete. Wave also lets users collaborate on editable documents, called Wikis, share photos, update blogs, set appointments and chat in big groups. You can add conference calls to a Wave. A translation function called Rosy will translate chat messages between languages as you write."

Just what I want. Someone jumping down my throat before I even finish typing a fully cogent thought out message. It's like being timewarped on the forums, only it'll happen with every message.

I'd have to study the details a little closer, but I think I'd prefer to keep mail, and real time chat separate.

There is a draft checkmark that doesn't let people see what is typed until you click done.

Then what is the point of wave if you make it act just like gmail.

I'm sure it does other things.

I don't have an invite yet, but am excited to get one. I like trying new things.

Google trying to take credit for inventing instant messaging?

It's total BS if you ask me.
Had an invite, didn't even complete the reg after reading a summary of it.

Google Wave is like a flash-based version of forums with threads in threaded view.
