Are they supposed to be still giving out the $10 prepaid card? It was on the site when I signed up on the 1st, but I still haven't gotten it. Sad. :(

Great! So now before I can pay for my crap I have to wait for someone in front of me messing with their phone while they try it 2 or 3 times if it doesn't work at the store or restaurant? Woo Hoo!!!

yeah I can see a problem of people all surfing their phones before going to the register.

you already have places that say to put your phone away when you're checking out because you're going to hold people up. now watch. but good thing nfc phones are for the geeks like us and so far they're on fast phones. i can't imagine someone on a lagfest phone trying to launch wallet as they get up to the register and make everyone wait 30 seconds.

as I said before nfc payments are just novelty. you're still going to have your wallet, and in the time you select the card you want, you could've pulled it out from your moneyclip just as quickly.

My experience:

As long as you open Google Wallet and put your PIN code in before you order at the register AND, as long as you don't try to jump the gun and use your phone before the cashier is finished ringing you up, it's WAY faster than using a credit card.

I did it at a BK yesterday. Ordered, got the total, turned the screen on, tapped the phone to the credit card machine, transaction went through in less than 3 seconds. Simply amazing, IMO.

Did it at Rite-Aid later. I hadn't unlocked Google Wallet, so when I tapped, it opened Google Wallet and asked me for my PIN. I had to type it in, then tap it again to finish. Still took like 15 seconds. Not quite as amazing, but was still better than the woman in front of me. And I learned my lesson. Open Google Wallet right before it's your turn.

Whenever they fix the "cashback" problem with Google Wallet, I will jump on board.
Until then, I won't be able to use it at much(if any) places.

What happens if you receive a phone call while you are doing your wallet thing? Does it stop so you can answer your phone or ignore it?

I don't know about that but the whole thing happwlens so fast I'd imagine the chances of that situation are super slim.

I just did it at McDonalds too. Followed my advice. Unlocked the wallet when I walked in the door. Made the order, waited until the lights for the card swipe to show up and then turned my screen on right before I tapped the phone to the payment area. Worked perfectly and the whole transaction went through in < 5 secs. I only held the phone in place for like two.

I haven't had that happen to me yet so I'm not sure what takes priority there.
Hopefully both can work at the same time.
