besides Verizon being well Verizon, what do they do to specifically stop this from working

:D

I remember some of the flip phones (Moto's especially) with all the disabled BT features back in the day. I had the v710, can't remember if I went to the e815?, but man...using bitpim and crap to weasel past their damn locks for pics and stuff. D:

Love the coverage, love my grandfathered family plan from 2004 or so with unlimited data added on, love the corp discount, but sometimes...

V710 was also disabled like crap. I had an unlocked V600 where I put on ringtones to my liking via BT and laughed at all the people with locked down Verizon phones. Can't transfer pics, can't transfer custom ringtones, can't transfer files across phones, etc.

I dunno. I guess the coverage is great, but I've used the other 3 carriers too where its good enough that I'd rather have device portability. Plus, its not like Verizon's perfect everywhere. In Manhattan, its a mess. I thought XLTE was supposed to fix things, and while its gotten better a lot of times its still a congested mess still even on the weekends with fewer people around.

Yeah XLTE is really only going to stave off capacity/bandwidth issues. If they don't have enough towers in an area, they are just doomed. And they won't play the small tower game either (which in a city like that would probably work better).

Cleveland area they seem to be just dreadful too. But the backwoods of Michigan, they got you covered!

Coverage is the only reason I'm with Verizon (well, Page Plus Cellular). AT&T and the other GSM carriers have a big fat dead spot that pretty much covers my whole neighborhood. As in, I get zero bars in my house, phone wouldn't ring most of the time people called, would sporadically get voicemails or texts hours later, or else when I left the "hole" they would come through in a flood. So, yeah...

Eh, it actually *has* gotten better since they officially backed off throttling at the start of the month. Figures, right?

It was probably just a ploy to get some unlimited users to jump ship or use an upgrade.

Of course it doesn't work on Verizon. Jerkoffs.

I received a text message with pictures the other day although the pictures arrived via my gmail address. Works for me. (I am Verizon)

That's not really the same thing. It's like saying you can receive email with a dumbphone because your secretary has your email login and prints it out and hand carries it to you wherever you are. Sure, you get the message, but that's not the same thing as having email on a smartphone.

For example with your method, you can't communicate in a group MMS. While I get that MMS is dying, this level of integration is far from complete, although they delayed long enough to not have it matter so much anymore.

Finally. Now that MMS works, I need to try and get my wife to migrate her number to GV.

More shortcodes work too.

Like Redbox. If you find one doesn't work use the feedback tool in Hangouts.
