Google turns on push for Gmail on iPhone

Yup.. I wish they would've done this through IMAP like Yahoo.

I love my iPhone, but these limitation get to be annoying sometimes.

I'm tempted, but do I really need another way to drain the phone's battery?

It's gotta be better on the phone than Fetch. That kills my battery.

I'd like to have two Exchange accounts on the iPhone also, because in addition to email, I use Google Calendar and Contacts extensively.

I could live without Push email, since 15 min fetch intervals are sufficient for most emails. If it was really important, I'd get a call or text message.

Recently, I started using Google Voice to forward SMS only to my email and not my cell phone. To still have instant access to SMS, I use a filter in Gmail to mark SMS emails as read and to forward them to Yahoo mail. I then setup push Yahoo mail on my iPhone. I guess I could setup other emails to be sent to Yahoo mail that I deemed important.

When you set up the account through Exchange, can you still specify a different SMTP server?

Edit: never mind, just checked - you can't.

The one active sync account limit is just stupid. I have a work email/calendar via google I want, and a personal one. Now I have to pick which one I want pushed and which one I want fetched.

How did you set it up to forward Google Voice SMS to email? That would be outstanding!

EDIT: NEVERMIND! Found the checkbox!

Woot, seems to be working nicely now. Was a little wonky for the first couple days. GO GO GOOGLEAPPLELOVE!
