Tried it.

It's a bit like a simplified CAD design, I supposed, but it's way too simplified to do anything useful, except drawing quite some simple models.

I've never used a CAD program though, so I'm not sure how it rates against other, proper CAD programs.

LMK what you think of it.
 
Yeah, I used it to create a partial mockup of my kitchen. It seems like it would serve most simple design needs that I have, and would sure beat my crappy hand drawings 😛
 
great for quick 3d models, setup base with cad, and just extrude objects in sketch up....their student version has more intricate objects that you can drop in (some sweet trees, people, furniture) and with different textures to get a professional look.

edit::::::::it's hard to get good looking trees in 3d...they have some 🙂

3ds max is just so much more complicated, (but much better results)

Same. I don't like it very much, but it's better than buying/stealing a several hundred dollar CAD package.
