Google search in IE search bar?

I saw it on TechTV a few weeks ago how you can add google to the search engines you can use in the Search bar with IE, but I forgot how to do it

How can I do that?

<< LOVE the toolbar.. one of my must haves. >>

Same I haven't visited the Google home page in quite a while 🙂

I especially like the Search site option much simpler than typing in all the script crap in 😉

That's why Opera is sweet... just type in g for google followed by the search term. You can program it to use any search engine and already has most of the major ones built in.

For example, if I want to search for dog, i type, in the location bar: "g dog." Very nice! 😀

Didn't work for me and I have 5.5

I've been using the google bar for awhile and have gotten a fair amount of use out of it.

A couple things that people haven't mentioned:

- It keeps the terms you searched for in the search field.

- You can highlight the keywords at the press of a button. (very cool)

there's something you have to enable, or maybe tweak in the registry... i forget, i never use it, but i know it's there.

slows down the load of IE

NOT!

I'm impressed every day with how fast and accurate it is. Its very up to date also.

You have to make sure you're not going through a proxy like webwasher or proxomitron before you install it because even with them disabled, I had to turn off the proxy completely before it worked. Other than that I think it is an activex module or some kind of object and your security permissions neet to be enabled for it to install.

well, i'm not sure if this is what you all are talking about or not, but i have IE 6, and i just typed "dog" into the adress bar and it did a search for dog. Not through google though, i think it was through MSN.

ya, it does it through MSN search...

i remember when i used to type: yahoo dog, it would open the search through yahoo.. =\

I've used the Google Toolbar on IE 5, 5.5, and now 6. It's extremely convenient, and doesn't slow anything down.
