Google replacing satelite images with "bird's eye."

Looks like Google is redoing their "satellite" style images with a more Bing-like style bird's eye view.

Go to the link and turn on satellite images.

Yeah, the 45 was clearly not taken with a satellite, it had to have been from a helicopter because of the angle.

IIRC a large portion of "satellite view" was taken from airplanes

Zoom in a bit, it clears up.

That was the one I was looking at. It was aliased when viewed from further out. When I zoomed in it looks okay but there is still distortion from the camera angle with the far end looking bigger than the near end. This is why I need orthophotos not birdseye. I want to measure stuff.

Click on Satellite. It gives a drop down menu where you can choose

Click on the google maps labs icon when at google maps (top right, says New!). Go down to Aerial Imagery and enable it.

I think the Bing version is still far better, how I use Google because of their great Street Views.

Yeah, sooo small. Upper middle class at best. I can tell because most of those houses don't even have living quarters for their servants (if they can even afford them). What's really ridiculous is that most of those people are under the illusion that they are successful, when the reality is that they are just the top tier of mediocrity. Sad, but true. Everyone knows this.
