"I hate change" image

I understand that a lot of people react negatively to change without necessarily looking for the pros and cons of the change, however I do see a lot of UI alterations as being similar to how UK supermarkets re-arrange the contents of the aisles on a regular basis*. I'm sure it's great for the supermarket but as far as the customer is concerned, it's purely a PITA.

Yeah, I hate Google's push for a persistent internet identity. It forfeits user privacy just to make it easier for Google to make dimes off ads.

Persistent ID is terrible for the internet, and just makes it easier to be reeled in, controlled, and regulated. Even though Google pretends to be against that, they really are only against it when it is bad for business.

again see my reply.. google+ is the exact same thing as a google account they just changed the name and added more access.

No, it isn't the same thing. Before under a google account you had subgroups which could remain seperate. Now, everything is converged. This way, I can track your and your identity through various google channels.

I used to have separate identities through different google products. Now, I can't have that anymore.

I'm mostly disappointed how they handled youtube. The commercials I could stomach; after all they need to make a profit.

Then they made it mandatory to have a google+ account to post comments?

F YOU GOOGLE!

Because Youtube comments are sooooo important :p

I'd like to block them altogether. They're a waste of bandwidth. I might do that when I get bored. See if I can keep them from loading at all. Hiding them would be easy, but that's not worth the effort. I can ignore them easily enough.

Performing a Google Image Search requires more clicking than it used to. I don't understand why they changed that.

Google keeps changing stuff and pissing people off in doing it. Most of these changes are functionality/look and have no marketing reason. They seem to be changing the Youtube interface every couple months now too. I don't really get what the point of all this is. Naturally, people hate change. Why not just leave it alone if changing it is only going to make people mad?

Youtube is about the only Google related product I use now, and it pisses me off most of the time because it seems every time I go to it something got changed again. Leave it alone! They already killed and beat up the horse, now they want to burn it and piss on the ashes too?

Speaking of youtube, anyone try to comment on a video lately? It stops the video and some JS nag pops up wanting to change your username. Wont let you do anything till you X out of the tab.

Have you noticed you can't even sort the search results anymore? All you can do is use filters, but the the options there are very limited.

i have no idea, but when they switched from google maps to google plus, all the reviews my patients have left all disappeared. also, when i do a search for my area for my profession, i don't show up anywhere at all.

Google made changes but they've said they purged a lot of reviews for not being what they consider legitimate.

From what I've seen, its been warranted. There were a lot of car dealers bitching and, well considering their reputation, not too surprising.

As mentioned in this forum previously, we’re currently experiencing an issue that is preventing us from showing some reviews on Place pages. We’re working to correct this issue as soon as possible, and apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused some of you.

However, please remember that there are various reasons why reviews may not appear. We’re continuing to do our best to ensure that the reviews in our system are legitimate and high-quality. To protect both business owners and customers, we have systems in place that may remove individual reviews, and with the revised review policies we released a few months ago (see below) we have taken a stronger stance against spam and other forms of abuse. So while some of you are seeing less reviews because of the aforementioned error, many of you are experiencing removed reviews because they have been removed by our systems. We acknowledge that sometimes our algorithms may flag and remove legitimate reviews in our effort to combat abuse, but believe that overall, these measures are helping to ensure that the reviews appearing on Place pages are authentic, relevant and useful.

Conflict of interest: Reviews are only valuable when they are honest and unbiased. For instance, as a business, you should not offer money or product to others to write reviews for your business or to write negative reviews about a competitor. As a reviewer, you should not accept money or product from a business to write a review about them. Additionally, don’t review a certain way just because an employee of that business asked you to do so. Don’t post reviews on behalf of others or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with the place you are reviewing.

I know a lot of businesses that offer discounts and other things for positive online reviews. I also know there's plenty that do even more sketchy things to pad their online feedback and/or harm competitors'. Hell they found one that tried to make it seem like they were a competitor writing negative reviews for another competitor, so that both would get hit (the one with negative reviews and hoping the other would get punished for supposedly making fake reviews to harm a competitor).

Of course, it could be a screwup. Try: http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.cs

There is no such thing as a 4 cylinder muscle car. Anyone who told that was a moron or trying to get you to buy a car you really didnt want.

They DID however, put EPA bullshit on cars and that hurt initially.

yeah, i never offered deals for positive reviews. that sounds like the worst idea ever and a great way to cause a lot of negative word-of-mouth publicity.

i've tried every avenue. they basically told me that, although my listing has been restored, the reviews cannot be restored. it's not like i could go back and ask my patients to rewrite a review that they already did. i have one patient who's meticulous as hell and it took her 45 minutes to write a two-paragraph review. i have no idea what the experience was like for anyone else and if they'd be willing to do it again, but i'm not about to ask again.

the only reviews i could save and put on my website were ones that were emailed to me because some patients didn't know how to post the review on google... also, there were a couple reviews that were left on my practice's facebook page as well as yelp.

either way, i'm gonna be starting fresh when i move to maryland. so, hopefully, i won't end up in the same predicament.

Yeah, its sorta like a more professional Facebook, if you've got a field that uses it.

Funny, I see the people bitching about how Facebook went to shit because they let everyone on there bitch about how Google doesn't have anyone. Plus could have been the good alternative social network, like Facebook would be for your mom and shit, but use plus for your closer friends/school/work network, but Google was stupid.

I think Google really f'ed themselves with Wave and trying to force the convergence of their stuff. If they had just made it optional but show people how powerful it can be, they'd have been lauded, but instead they forced people to have to do it so people hated it. They haven't done enough to make it worthwhile so its all floundered other than people that already used their stuff (like GMail, Picasa).

It took me like a year to finally create a second GMail account for the forced Youtube conversion (where you had to sign in with Google account.

The problem is, Google tries to mimmick, they need to just find the niche market, techies, and go with it.

Exclusivity will bring people in by the droves.

Google has only gotten better and better for me, and I don't even use Google Plus. Google Now is the first time where my smartphone actually feels smart.
