Google/other webcrawler

Using Cedant hosting, it has a search engine optimiser tool that allows you to automatically add meta data to the page code. Weirdly, it doesn't see my .php pages.

Is this something that Cedant's code does or is it because google and other web crawlers don't actually crawl php pages and stick to HTML?

The search engines crawl the pages that are served up by the server, and php serves up html pages just fine so there's no problem about that. I'm assuming the Cedant thing is specifically looking for html or htm pages to modify on your server so that's why it's not doing anything about your php pages.
